||HIT THE ROAD JACK||

|CAMI

"Hey, where have you guys been?" Rudy demanded as me and Jack walked into the dojo to see Kim, Jerry, Eddie, and Milton looking a little frightened. "Practice started a half hour ago!"

"Sorry, Rudy. It's Wednesday! We volunteered at the nursing home," Jack apologized.

"We volunteered at the nursing home," Rudy mocked. "Get your priorities straight people! Tomorrow is the Champion's Tournament!"

"Where I'm getting my orange belt," Eddie was barely able to say before Rudy cut in.

"I said we're proud of you, now zip it!" Rudy snapped.

"Rudy, man you're a little wound up," Jack pointed out. "But we are ready for the tournament. Cami's been helping me with my spinning back kick and I've been helping her with hers."

"Yeah, show him Jack," I agreed excitedly, grabbing a wood board.

"Ready?" Jack asked. I nodded, getting the board setup before he performed a perfect spinning back kick.

"That is perfect. You need to do exactly that tomorrow. You never know who's gonna be watching you," Rudy said.

"My whole family's coming to watch me get my orange belt!" Eddie exclaimed.

"Ooh. That's excit-"

"-oh please, let it go!" Rudy cut me off. "Now, Cami. Spinning back kick. Go!" Jack set up the board as I performed a perfect spinning back kick. "Again, perfect! Do it just like that tomorrow. You'll-"

"-never know who's gonna be watching," I recited. "I got it, hon."

Eddie performed his last routine as a yellow belt, making us all applaud and cheer. "Thank you sensei," Eddie bowed after taking his orange belt making us all cheer again. "Today I have become a man! From this day forward when I pee, I will do it standing!"

"Ok, Eddie, why don't you sit down before your victory speech becomes any worse," I suggested, pulling him down to sit next to Jerry who was sitting on the other side of Jack. I was sitting between Jack and Kim, seeing as I'm closer with them.

"Ooh. They're  here. They're here, they're here,"  Rudy rushed to the entrance of the dojo.

"Who's here?" Milton asked.

"Certainly not two mysterious strangers from Japan who could change our lives forever," Rudy answered before walking towards the door. I turned my attention back to the mats in front of me.

"Hey. You ok?" Jack asked, probably noticing my distraught look.

"I'm just a little nervous, that's all," I shrugged.

"You'll do great! Don't listen to Rudy. He's just an egotistical sensei who likes to flaunt our success in other people's faces," Jack deadpanned making me laugh. "You got this."

"Thanks Jack," I smiled, getting up onto the mats. I bowed respectfully to my opponent, taking position.

"Fight," the ref shortly said, starting the match. I kicked the guy in his stomach making him stumble backwards. I blocked his punch and blocked his kick until he got ahold of my arm, flipping me over, to which I successfully landed. I started to rapidly perform different moves, confusing my opponent, giving me a chance to flip him over. "Winner!" the ref announced, making me jump up in happiness. I sprinted up to Kim giving her a big hug and high fiving Jack.
