||THE BATTLE OF SEAFORD HILL||

|CAMI

Milton opened the dojo doors, hauling this giant trunk into the dojo. "Man, he's really struggling with that thing. Looks pretty heavy," Jerry pointed out.

"Should we help him?" I asked.

"Yeah. I can't sit here and watch this," Jack set down his sandwich, to which I took, walking up to Milton. "Lift with your legs!" Jack snapped his fingers, giving Milton a thumbs up. "Cami," he looked at me pointedly. I sighed, taking a bite of the sandwich before giving it back.

"Oh. You're a good friend," Jerry patted Jack's back.

"It's what I do," Jack nodded.

"Yo, so what's in the trunk?" Jerry asked, walking up to Milton.

"I'll give you a hint: You wouldn't be standing here today without it," Milton hinted.

"You locked my mother in the trunk?!" Jerry then spoke quickly in Spanish, even I couldn't make out what he said.

"Ok, ok, ok," Jack pulled my cousin away from the trunk.

"Your mother's not in the trunk," Milton denied, opening the trunk to reveal old clothes.

"Hey dude um what're you doing with a bunch of old clothes?" Jack asked.

"These are artifacts from the Battle of Seaford Hill. The president of the Historical Society hand selected me to be the director of the reenactment," Milton replied. Ugh. Battle of Seaford Hill week. Joy. Note the sarcasm. The Martinez name has been deemed unworthy of respect at this time of year because one of our ancestors accidentally poisoned all of the troops right before a large battle. How we won, I have no idea.

"Wait aren't you the president?" Jack asked.

"I said hand selected," Milton insisted. Jerry pouted and I glared into nothing. This week is gonna be swell. Swell, I tell ya.

"Dude I hate the reenactment. It reminds everyone that me and Cami are related to Cook and Bellerose Martinez, the traitors," Jerry pouted.

"Oh come on, Jerry. That was 200 years ago. I'm sure that no one remembers that Cook and Bellerose Martinez got all the troops sick and almost cost Seaford the battle," Milton shrugged.

"Oh really?" I challenged. Me and Jerry walked towards the exit of the dojo, opening the doors to be greeted with a bunch of eggs being thrown at us.

"Yeah, I'm gonna say they still remember," Jack told Milton. Me and Jerry started heading upstairs, towards Rudy's office to avoid anymore egg throwing.

"Anyone want an egg?" Rudy asked as he entered the dojo. "Got one left."

"Really Rudy? You too?!" I exclaimed exasperated. "I'm just gonna cocoon myself in the aerial silks til this week is over," I decided. "But I'm gonna shower first so I don't smell like egg."

I was swinging in the aerial hoop, browsing on my phone when I heard the gym doors open. "This week's classes are cancelled for personal reasons!" I called absentmindedly.

"Come on, Cami. You can't stay up there forever," I heard Jack say. I sighed, putting my phone in my back pocket before pretty much flying to him.

"I can. And I will," I countered, looping my legs on the hoop so I could gaze at Jack upside down.

"Can you at least participate in the reenactment? We're a couple. Couples suffer together. Come on, please?" Jack begged.

"I won't be in the play or be attending it. Last time I did, eggs were pelted at me left and right. I don't want that to happen again, thanks," I replied, swing the hoop towards the silks. I switched activities, tying myself securely in the aerial silks.
