Chapter 3 - As on Same boat

Kavitha's lips curved into a smile feeling a soft mattress underneath her.She woke with a jolt when she remembered her daughter.
"Mazhilini", Kavitha called and looked around the unfamiliar room.
She noticed a woman sitting in a chair beside her with a small smile.Kavitha looked at her with confusion.The older woman got up from the chair and offered a glass of water to Kavitha. She gulped down all of it and it refreshed her body immediately.

"Amma where I am and where is my daughter", Kavitha asked in a low voice.

" Hi ma. I am Chitra, a doctor", Chitra replied and continued.

"The answer for your question is you are in my home and your cute little daughter is peacefully sleeping in the next room",Chitra answered with a smile.

Relief spread over the frame of Kavitha visibly.

"Ma, do you remember anything and I want to know your name", Chitra said

"My name is Kavitha and yeah I remember standing in the bus stop with my baby as it was raining heavily", Kavitha answered in a small voice.

"Okay it's very late in the night. I want you to eat this food and to take these tablets", Chitra said and forwarded the tray with  Dal rice and some tablets.Kavitha took the plate and looked at it. It's been 2 days she had taken food.How much she wanted to get fed by her husband. That bought a fresh line of tears.

Chitra noticed the fresh tears in Kavitha's eyes and caressed her cheeks with love.

"Now now don't cry ma. It will take up the little energy you have now.So eat the food now without crying", Chitra said softly

The soft and caring voice from Chitra made Kavitha to take food and also to take the tablets.Chitra sat beside Kavitha with many thoughts. 'She looks young yet a mother of a child and also she is pregrant',Chitra thought with a sigh.Chitra also decided to talk with her son Vijay about her and also take Kavitha to her hospital for checkup.Meanwhile Kavitha finished her meal and got up to wash the dishes.

"No wait ma.I will take the plates and you need lot of rest. So lye down and sleep", Chitra said and took the plates from Kavitha.Kavitha hesitated but the exhaustion made her to comply Chitra's words.

NEXT DAY
As usual Vijay's household was busy in the morning.Vijay's family is a joint family.
His father Ranjan died at Vijay and Vijitha,his sister's young age. He had a younger brother and a sister. They all lived as ajoint family even now.

When Vijay's father died Chitra was working in a hospital and they owned a small business which was looked after by Ranjan. Though his brother and brother in law assisted him Ranjan is the root of business. Chitra was shattered on Ranjan's death but she recovered for the sake of her children.

Chitra felt like seeing her ownself when she looked at Kavitha. Few drops of tears rolled down her cheeks. How much she wished to have her husband to be with her now. How much she wished her husband to be with her when her only son passed IPS exam. How much she wished her husband to be with her when  her daughter scored highest mark in the state and grabbed Medical seat with scholarship in a reputed college.

Even now after 20 years, she missed him to the core.She looked at Kavitha and caressed her head.She blessed her and went downstairs to look after her household.
