Chapter 18 - Suspects

Vijay was in his office after two days. Eventhough he was turning the pages of the case file, he didnot get anything into his head. The brewing strom in his home is the one and only thing which is on his mind. On the other day, the conversation he had with his mom and Dr. Naetra, Kavitha's doctor was disturbing him a lot.

"Vijay, Kavitha was very much depressed which is not good her baby's health. Antidepressants can help but, not any longer. We have to be careful otherwise it will be fatal to both the baby and the mother", Dr.Naetra said to Vijay while Kavitha was getting freshen up.

Vijay looked at his mom who was standing beside Dr.Naetra and she too confirmed the observation of the doctor and had a appreciating smile.

"Good observation Dr.Naetra. We will keep this in mind. And thank you for taking care of her", Chitra said.

"Mam, it's my duty and it's my greatest achievement to get praises from you", Naetra replied and looked at Kavitha standing at the door of restroom.

Chitra went near her and helped her to sit in the bed.

"Kavitha how are you feeling now", Chitra asked while carressing her head.

"I am good ma", Kavitha replied with a smile.

"Okay, then you are allowed to go home", Naetra chripped in and listed out the medicines to be given to Kavitha.

Vijay was very much worried about Kavitha on that day.

'I had done wrong, I shouldn't have brought Kavitha into my life', Vijay's mind concluded.

She was discharged and he dropped her in his home. Chitra went to hospital for her duties. And his brother Karthik and his sister Viji was nowhere to be seen. Even he had not meet the rest of his family that raised the suspicion in  his mind.(Damn Police Mind)

The doubt in his mind increased as his aunt had not return even after two days. He even tried to contact his brother Karthik, but all he got was one line answers and the usual cheerful voice of Karthik seemed dull.

Vijay smiled thinking of the time he had spent with Mazhi and Kavitha. After dropping Kavitha in the home, he went to his office and he was not able to concentrate on his work. So he decided to take break much to the shock of his colleagues. He went to his home and spent his afternoon with Mazhilini and Kavitha. Even they had light conversations.

The next day he took Mazhilini  and Kavitha to a nearby park along with Chella ma. Chella ma and Kavitha went for a walk in the park while Vijay played with Mazhilini. Though He was playing with Mazhilini, he had his eyes on Kavitha and Chella ma for safety reasons. He felt relived after witnessing a change in Kavitha's face. She actually smiled and he decided to take her to the park atleast once on a week.

But when they returned home, he faced his uncle's anger. He said some hateful words towards Kavitha and she cried. All those efforts he took to cheer her up went invain.

'Why these people are not understanding that Kavitha is nothing but a friend for me', he thought and began to answer back his uncle. But he was interrupted by a call to his uncle. He warned him by saying something like
'If something happens to her, you will be the reason'. Vijay don't know what he meant by those words.

He sighed.

He was not able to put his mind on any other matters. He wanted answers to clear his mind. He closed the file with a sigh and got up to have a tea from the canteen but was interrupted by the knock of the door.

"Hmm..come in", Vijay said and waited for the person to enter his room. He didnot remember giving any appointment for meeting him. To his utter bewilderment there stood ACP with a smrik.

"What a pleasant surprise Sashi. It was a great privilege to be visited by ACP", Vijay said with sarcastic tone when Sashi saluted him.

"The pleasure is mine", Sashi replied with the same sarcastic tone.

Both were silent for a minute and bursted out laughing. They both did a brotherly hug and sat on the couch in Vijay's room. After catching up with both of their life stories for 3 months, their conversation took turn towards the cases they are handling.

Vijay was relaxed after pouring out his thoughts to his friend. Sashi too noticed the happiness that reflected in his friend's face while talking about a little girl Mazhilini.

"Vijay, I came here to discuss a case", Sashi said with seriousness.

"Okay", Vijay said and his fill attention was in Sashi unlike sometime before.

"We have been dealing cases against drug trafficking", Sashi started and Vijay nodded.

Vijay knew about the case. It's him and Sashi who were dealing with that case for months but they were not able to track the supplier of that drug. They got leads though but were not able to succeed in the case.

"Yeah even we got doubt on leading industries", Vijay responded.

"Yes, recently I was approached by Sekar and Mahesh, who are the owners of Lekha Industries to find a woman unofficially", Sashi said.

'Lekha Industries' caught Vijay's attention.
Lekha Industries was their primary suspect in drug trafficking case.
