He stood near the window and looked at the sun rising from her covers. The red and orange hue of the morning sky gave him the peace he craved. He looked down from his window hearing his girl's sweet melodic laugh. He saw his sister pushing the swing in which his baby girl, Mazhi sat and enjoyed. He was so much in peace for the last two months. Though his work was tiresome, he could feel the peace engulfing him every time he watched his baby girl's smile. He remembered his conversation with his mom a month ago.

He made up his mind to marry Kavitha but he wanted to ask his mom's opinion. More than anyone, his mom Chitra would know about Kavitha. He had seen them talking with each other much often, yet he was sure he saw a silent understanding between them. He also knew, his mom was not a conservative one like his other family members. She was not opposing his idea but made him to understand the outcomes of his decision. Even she gave the idea to overcome all those outcomes. He reclled the conversation he had with his mom.

They met in a coffee shop. He had asked his mom to stay with him. But she refused saying that she is responsible for his father's siblings. Though he knew, they were not treating his mom right, he was not able to force his mother.  His mother had choosen the coffee shop. Initially he was sceptive about meeting his mother outside their home but once he looked at the shop he got his mother's instinct.

It was a small coffee shop located in the outskirts of the city, away from the eyes of people. He looked around the shop and noticed that there were only a few tables and chairs. The people there were very simple and they were welcoming. He took a seat near the corner and waited for his mother. He ordered a storng coffee for himself. Chitra and Vijay's coffee reached him at the same time. He stood up and embraced his mother basking in the love of his mom.

"Its been days Vijay, to see you alone", Chitra started while he pulled out the chair for her.

"Yes mom", he replied and took his seat.

"Do you need anything mom?", he asked despite knowing his mother's hate for outside foods.

"No, Vijay. I do not have much time. Your uncle and aunt will be waiting for me", Chitra replied.

"Okay mom, let me enjoy the cup of coffee then", Vijay said and sipped his coffee leisurely.

While Vijay was looking outside the shop, Chitra looked at her son. She noticed he had gained some weight not only that he had got a glow; a glow of happiness. She smiled knowing the reason, Kavitha and Mazhilini. Though she was not able to visit them frequently she knew all updates. She would hear about them about through her dearest daughter Vijitha and Sashi. She knew his son and even she have guessed the conversation they were about to have.

She cleared her throat to gain her son's attention from outside. Vijay looked at her and smiled.

"What do you want to ask Vijay?", Chitra asked.

"Mom, I had taken this decision after thinking alot. I wanted to know about your stand on my decision. Noone's opinion matters to me other than yours", Vijay paused to glance his mother's reaction. Seeing the smile and a encouraging nod from his mom, he took a deep breath and said,

"Mom, I wanted to marry Kavitha and adopt the babies as mine", Vijay said and looked at his mother. He noticed his mom's smile did not faded. That gave him a relief.

"Are you ready for this new part of your life Vijay?", his mother questioned him.

"Yes", a confident answer came from Vijay.

"What about Lily and her sacrifices", Chitra asked him looking into his eyes directly.

For a second, she saw a remorse in his eyes. But it vanished within a second.

"Ma, that's my past. She always stays in my heart. But Kavitha also made a place in my heart", Vijay said with a sad smile.

"Don't you think you should share your past with Kavitha?", Chitra asked again.

"Even she has a past. And I don't want to know about her past or to share my past with her", Vijay said with a sad voice.

Chitra sighed.

"Vijay, what if someone shares your past and manipulate her?", Chitra asked.

Vijay was stunned for a minute. He didn't think in this angle. He was the only one who knew about everything that happened in his life. His mind was filled with "what ifs". As a mom she knew how her son would think. She knew his mind would have filled with "what ifs" by now. She took Vijay's hand and gently held it. She continued,

"Vijay, you are a mature person. Share your past with her first. Ask whether she would able to share her past with you. If she was comfortable, hear her past from her", she paused and looked at her son.

"And then, after being sure of your decision, come to me. I will help you to get married with Kavitha", Chitra finished.

She gently patted her son and went out leaving behind Vijay.

His phone rang disturbing his chain of thoughts. He smiled looking at the caller ID. He answered the call and uttered,

"ARE YOU READY FOR THE UNTIEING?"
