Chapter - 29 - The Strom

Kavitha was in her own thoughts. Eventhough she was watering plants, her mind was not in the work. She noticed that, often her thoughts were wandering to the memories she had with certain someone. She was afraid of these thoughts because the certain someone is not her husband. For crying out loud, it's been only few months after her husband's death.

The sudden havoc in her heart was caused by her saviour, Vijay. The eye locks they shared during the party. She could say, his eyes bored her soul. She could also see the longing, helplessness in his eyes. She also noticed Vijay distanced himself from the crowd during the dinner. He was eating alone in a corner and did not failed to check upon his family members. He looked around from time to time and smiled lightly whenever he caught his siblings smile. She noticed every small detail of the things he did at the party, except the part where he pissed off his guests. And also she had not seen the guest, Mazhi was cranky after seeing a crowd. She didnot allowed her to go anywhere, Vijay might have calmed her but he was busy. Kavitha was not used to the extravagant food in the party, so prepared food for herself and ate at the kitchen. When she came out after eating suddenly the party was over and she don't know what happened. But she could see the tension among the family members.

When she started to move inside her new found home, a man as tall as Vijay stood infront of her with a dashing smile.

"Hello, I am Sashi", he stretched his hand for a shake. She looked at his face and his hands for good two minutes. She hesitated because of his police uniform.

"Kavitha, he is a good friend of Vijay", Chitra said from her side. Kavitha turned to look at Chitra who gave her a warm smile. She noticed the eyes of the man standing in front of her becoming glossy. He crossed her and hugged Chitra.

"Chitra mom, I missed you", he uttered.

"I missed you more Sashi", Chitra patted his head.

'How Chitra ma can be this kind to everyone', Kavitha thought with a smile.

"Yes, my Chitra mom is kind to everyone", Sashi replied breaking the hug and beaming at her.

"You said it aloud", Sashi answered her unasked question resulting in a happy smile in her face.

"Consider me as your brother. I will always be a call away", Sashi said and moved inside.

"Come on Kavitha. It's late, you will be tired", Chitra said and dragged her inside.

She came out of her thoughts when she heard Vijay's scream echoing through the whole house.

The cold harsh winds through the window hitting her brought her back to the reality. She was sitting in the room with more files to give her opinion. Instead of looking at the file, she looked outside her window. Dark clouds gloomying over the sky indicated the onset of a strom. She sighed and packed her bag, hoping to reach her home before the downpour. The way to her home gets flooded even with slightest rainfall and now they had warned about a strom. She can not take chance. She hurriedly locked the door and went outside her office. But will our life go as we planned. No right?

As she took the first step outside, the first drop of the rain touched the ground followed by many and there came the rain. She hated rain. It made her remember everything, she wanted to forget. The dark clouds were like her thoughts gloomying over her life. She hated rain and her life. She decided to wait and turned back but a horn sound stopped her. She looked at a car with a open door and him inside the car. She looked at the Car and him.

"Come in Naetra", Karthik's voice distracted her.

Can life get more worse?

When all she wanted is to get away from him, the destiny is making them to meet again. She sighed and shook her head.

"No Karthik, I will wait in the office till the rain stops", Naetra replied, turned back and started walking towards her office.

Karthik was stunned for a minute, he composed himself and got out of the car holding an umbrella. No way He is getting his baby wet. He loved his car way too much. He always carried a set of clothes and umbrella. She was his first baby. But now he wanted Naetra to be safe. If he have to kidnap her, he will do it in the heart beat to keep her safe. He knew something changed in his heart after his last encounter with Naetra.

He did not saw her after their last meeting in the hospital canteen. The hurt he saw in her eyes that day haunted him. He wanted her to come to him when something bothers her. He clearly understood that she distanced herself from everyone associated with him. She was not attending his calls or replying to his messages. He lost it when she stopped coming to the hospital. He was determined to see her today and here he was standing infront of her office, while it's pouring down heavily.

With long steps he took, he was standing before her within a minute. She halted in her steps seeing him before her.

"Karthik, what are doing here?", her voice did something to his heart and he wasted no time for pulling her into a warm hug.
