"I will not take any medicines", Kalaiselvi's voice boomed in the silent OT.

Chitra stopped in her tracks and went near Kalaiselvi.

"But why", Chitra asked softly caressing Kalaiselvi's head. Kalai stopped Chitra from caressing, removed her oxygen mask and sat on the bed.

She leisurely said,

"Anni(Sister-in-law) I will not take any medicines, until you promise me that Suchi will be married off to Vijay"

Kalaiselvi knew that her sister in law does not like to beat around the bush. She already knew this day will come. She had not taken her regular tablets for the past month. She knew her BP will rise up and she wanted to trap her Sister-in-law in the drama of sickness.

Kalai also knew that if she take up any medicine, she will be normal again and her plan to get promise from Chitra will go invain.

Chitra was taken back by Kalaiselvi's demand. She don't know the answer. She can not take decision for her son. Also she can not leave Kalai in that position. Chitra,as doctor knew the consequences of not taking medicine.

"Aunty, you can not pressurize Chitra mom like this. If you do not take these medicines, it will be fatal", Karthik warned with anger in his voice.

"Karthik", Chitra's stren voice stopped him from going further.

Karthik was listening to his aunt's tantrum for last few minutes. He was also taken back when she demanded promise from Chitra. He was furious was an understatement.She can not do this to Vijay. Now he was doubtful whether its really her BP or some trap laid for his Chitra mom. The reports were also came out as normal.

"Mom, wait a minute", Karthik said and turned towards Kalaiselvi.

"Aunty, have you been taking your tablets regularly?", Karthik said.

Karthik noticed a slight fear in her eyes but it disappeared within a second. Kalai with much confidence said

"Yes"

They were interepted by Prakash and Vanitha. They both were in a hurry and in a tensed state. Vanitha was with Kalaiselvi when she fainted. She panicked at first but composed herself and called for the ambulance. She was not in a correct state of mind to inform any of her family members. Though Vanitha did not like Kalaiselvi,she is a family. And she learned to love this family. She loved her family;all of her children. Her tear stricken face showed the love she had for this family.

Chitra turned towards Prakash and Vanitha. She knew what Vanitha needs looking at her face. She went towards Vanitha and hugged her. Vanitha was stunned for a minute. But her emotional turmoil broke her walls and she cried while hugging Chitra,after all they were once best friends.

"Hey..it's okay. Kalai is alright. Her reports came as normal", Chitra said breaking the hug.

"But dad your sister is refusing to take medicines. If she does not take these medicines, the result will be fatal", Karthik said with anger seething in every words.

Prakash was worried about Kalai. She was their little sister. He and his brother had spoiled her from her small age. And that's the reason she will not accept anything without showing any tantrums.But now she is risking her life and he cannot let her do that.

"Kalai,take medicines and take rest please", Prakash said.

"No, I will not take medicines untill Chitra Anni(Sister-in-law) promise me", Kalaiselvi said with more determination.

Karthik's anger was beyond the limit. She is risking her life for ruining Vijay's life. As a brother he can not let her ruin Vijay's life.

"That's okay. She need not to take medicines", Karthik said and stromed out dragging his Chitra mom along with him.Prakash and Vanitha followed them.

"Karthik. Stop", Chitra's voice stopped him. But they were out of OT. Prakash and Vanitha yoo reached there.

"Karthik as doctor you should know the consequences of not taking the medicines", Chitra said and went towards the door.

"I know mom. And I had given her a sedative. She will be asleep for 8 to 9 hours. So don't worry. I have night shift today so you all go home and take rest. I will manage here", Karthik said and went inside the OT leaving behind Chitra Vanitha and Prakash.

Prakash and Vanitha was confused. They looked at each other and Vanitha started the conversation.

"Chitra, how is Kalai now?"

Chitra's trance was broken by Vanitha's question. She massaged her forehead and took a deep breath to relax her body. She have to be strong to face her own family.

"Hmm.,yeah. She is fine. All the reports came as normal. You people can go to the house", Chitra replied and turned to go but she was stopped by Prakash's question.

"What about the promise Kalai was talking about?"

She knew Prakash will catch the word. He will do anything to make his sister happy and of course even it involves sacrificing other's happiness.

"Prakash, she is asking me to promise that Suchi will be married off to Vijay", Chitra replied.

"Okay, but what's wrong in that. You could have made that promise", Prakash replied.

"How could I decide for Vijay", Chitra replied and gave him an unbelievable look.

"Chitra,now she is not taking medicines. You know that consequences will be fatal right?", Vanitha replied.

"Sorry guys. But marriage is binding two people's life as one. And it has to be according to their wish. If it is forced upon them, then the binding will not last longer", Chitra said walked away from there.
