Chapter - 23 - The park

Chitra was greeted by an empty house when she came back. She fished out her mobile to call Viji, that's when she noticed the message from Vijay and Karthik. It's been ages they all went out. Though Vijay went out in the pretext of Mazhi, she was happy. At this moment, as a mother, Vijay's happiness was all she want and she won't ruin it at any cost. She thought of welcoming her children with a dinner so she got busy in making dinner.

Karthik got message from his Chitra mom that she is making dinner. He was happy. After that terrible breakfast incident when his mother and father threw baseless insults on Vijay and Kavitha, Chitra didnot entered the kitchen. Honestly, he was missing his Chitra mom's cooking.

'Maybe all the love she is pouring while cooking makes the food delicious', he chuckled at his own thoughts.

After many days, they had come to the park. He sat at a nearby bench whereas his cousins were playing in the ground. He smiled. He looked at his brother Vijay. Vijay was with Mazhi. The all fearing DSP Vijay was running away from the cute little girl Mazhi. They were playing 'Run & Catch' itseems.

"Mazhi ma careful" Karthik heard a voice from his right side. He turned and looked at Kavitha. He had not seen her this much relaxed since she came to live with them. Heck he had not even had a conversation with her. He came to know her story through Vijitha and her health issues through his friend Naetra.

The thoughts of Naetra brought a smile unto his face. He had a good day when she came to meet him. After many days, he felt relaxed in her company. The Naetra, he had always known was a silent girl who always stays in the library. But the Naetra he had meet up was a complete new Naetra; she had become talkative beyond his imagination and he was afraid because he liked the changes in Naetra.

"Do you need anything", Kavitha's voice bought him out of his thoughts.

"Umm..sorry did you say something?", Karthik questioned her. He had not heard what she had said.

Kavitha smiled and repeated her question making Karthik to give a full blown smile.

"No, I don't need anything. Thank you for asking", Karthik replied and turned towards the direction in which his cousins are playing.

"Umm.. Karthik sir", Kavitha's hesitated voice once again disturbed him. Karthik was confused, he turned towards her with a raised brows. Kavitha got the signal and continued,

"Here take this and drink water. It's more than an hour, you had drank water last", Kavitha said with stretched hand towards Karthik with a bottle.Karthik was surprised. It's his habit to drink water for every one hour. Usually he would carry a water bottle for continuing his habit but somehow he forgot. Maybe the excitement of going out with his brothers and sister made him forgot to bring water bottle.

"Ohh thank you. How did know this?", Karthik asked with a slight smile.

"Umm.. earlier while coming from home, Vijay sir asked me to bring some snacks and water bottles. And he asked me to give a water bottle to you after an hour", Kavitha finished with a small smile.

Karthik turned towards his brother who also turned towards him. The smile gracing both the brothers were contigious. Vijay's smile widend,looking at the water bottle in Karthik's hand. His eyes searched Kavitha and found her near Karthik.

"Come on Karthik. Play with us. Don't be a party pooper", Vijitha said from Vijay's back.

"Oiiii, I am not a party pooper", Karthik whinned.

"Ohhh..then come on play with us", Rithvin joined Vijitha with laughing Mazhi in his hands.

"Okay I will come. But Kavitha will be left alone na", Karthik used his last reason to avoid playing with them.

'He is not the child anymore right. He is a responsible doctor now and if any of his patients see him playing in a park. What they will think of him', these are the thoughts of Karthik while answering his siblings.

"By the looks of it, you are not even talking with Kavitha, she will be doing just fine without you", Vijitha stated as a matter of fact.

Can he win over his siblings? No never. He turned towards Kavitha who was stiffening a laugh by pursing her lips together.

"Okay", Karthik atlast said with a defeated sigh.

Kavitha felt much relaxed after coming to the park. Watching her daughter playing happily bought a smile on Kavitha's face. She smiled at the siblings playing along with her daughter.
Though they don't talk much in home, she can feel the love they had for one another by their actions;like Vijay asked her to bring water bottle for Kavitha, Rithvin asked her to bring some snacks for Vijitha and Vijitha asked her to bring snacks for Rithvin.

"Kavitha you don't know about her/him, she/he will definitely ask for snacks from road side shop which won't be good for her/him", were the exact words of Rithvin and Vijitha.

She chuckled at the siblings. Eventhough she wanted these kind of relationship with her siblings, God didnot granted her wish. She truly loved her siblings and thats the reason, she agreed to marry Bhasker at her tender age of 16.

She was brought out from the memory lane by a throat clearing sound. She looked up and saw Vijay standing in front of her with a smile.

Vijay, though playing with Mazhi, he kept an eye on Mazhilini's mom too. He decided to come to the park for Kavitha. It's been more than a month, since she came out.So he decided to take her to the park, but by knowing her he decided to take his siblings with them too. Last time when they went for the park, they had to face the baseless insults yet again. He had seen her mostly in the kitchen preparing food. He must admit, the food prepared by her was delicious. Even his uncle Prakash and aunt Vanitha too praised her once. He thought of asking her to take a walk with Vijitha, but one look at Vijitha, he knew that Vijitha won't take a walk. She was playing happily with Mazhi. He thought of not disturbing them. He walked towards her and saw her thinking about something. He cleared his throat to gain her attention and he was successful.

"Kavitha, come on walk with me", Vijay said.

"Huh", Kavitha asked questioningly.

"I..umm we brought you here so that you can take a walk. It's good for baby and ....you", Vijay said with pauses.

Kavitha looked at Vijay and got up from the seat to take a walk. God smiled at them from above knowing that this is just a step for them to walk towards their destiny.
