Chapter - 31 - Nightmares

Many questions flooded through her mind and the fear of her children's future gripped her heart. She was calm and composed till now. She was a tickling bomb which can burst at anytime. The decisions made in a haste will not be a right decision. It may look like a right thing to do but in the long run, it will prove us that we took wrong decision at the wrong time.

Vanitha did not remembered this and took the decision in haste. She don't know what the future will hold for calling Kalaiselvi and updating about the events of the household. She expected Kalaiselvi to be present at the party but she did not came. Even Prakash informed her that he invited Kalai for the party.
They planned to ask Vijay's hand for Suchi in the party so that Chitra won't refuse. But all of their plan turned upside down with the happenings of party. She was pissed off at Vijay for ruining her husband's per project. And  Vijay waking up screaming out Kavitha's name poured oil unto the burning fire. Though she loved Vijay but the fear for her own children's future overcame that love for her friend's son. Without wasting a minute, she called Kalaiselvi.
She picked up after 3 rings.

"Hey Vani, How come you are calling me in this early morning", Kalai asked from the otherside of the phone.

"Vijay got a nightmare", Vanitha replied in a panic voice.

"Ohh..that's common na. You don't have to update every minute detail of that household", Kalai responded and started saying about the things she had been doing in her native place; from supervising the household chores to taking a stroll in the lawn, which irritated Vanitha to the core.

"Kalai, will you listen to me first?", Vanitha said with gritted teeth.

"Okay, let us see how much important news you are giving me this time", Kalai replied. She was feed up with the happenings of their household and with Vanitha updating about each and every unimportant things happening in the household made her tired and frustrated.

"Vijay, screamed that Kavitha's name instead of that girl's name", Vanitha said without a stop leaving a stunned Kalai on the phone.

"You have to come here immediately. Do whatever you want. I will support you", Vanitha finished.

"Says the one who told me not to do any drama", Kalaiselvi murmured.

"What", Vanitha asked without hearing her properly.

"Haan, I will come there by nook or by crook. You don't worry", Kalaiselvi said and hanged up the phone to execute her plan.

Meanwhile,

Kavitha was pacing in her room with worry lines etched on her face. Her daughter was sleeping peacefully after her lunch. She was not able to sit peacefully in that home without worring for Vijay. She ran towards her room, where Vijay was sleeping when she heared him screaming her name. She thought some thing happened to Mazhi. But the scene before her when she reached there, took her breath away. She saw a very panicked Vijay with nonstop tears from his eyes. A man, whom she remembered from yesterday was hugging Vijay tightly. She stood there along with Chitra and Chella Ma. Her eyes wandered around the room looking for her daughter. She was no where to be found. Her eyes widened in panic. Noticing her, Chitra whispered,

"She was with Viji and Rithvin"

Kavitha turned towards her and saw a tired mother standing beside her. She knew the feel. She had always seen Chitra as a strong woman. She could understand that whatever happened with Vijay caused her to be stressed.
Chitra averted her gaze towards her son but Kavitha wanted to know what happened to Vijay.

"Ma,ummm What happened to him?", Kavitha asked with a hesitation.

Chitra did not turned towards her but answered her in a soft tone,

"He had a nightmare, I guess. It's very common for him to have nightmares. He didnot got any nightmares recently thus I thought he was not suffering anymore. But guess, I was wrong", Chitra replied with a sigh.

Kavitha looked at Vijay and her heart broke. She could only see a fear stricken man not the strong and composed one. Though she could see that Sashi was helping his friend to come out of the daze, Vijay was not responding to anything. She remembered him taking care of her, when she was sick;he stayed with her as long as he could; he took her to parks and walks for many times. Without thinking about anything she went towards Vijay.

"Ummm, can I speak to him?", her soft voice made Sashi to look up at her. He turned and looked at Chitra for confirmation. He knew how bad Vijay can behave if he had a nightmare. It will take even hours for him to become normal. Sashi can not blame his friend too, he suffered too much. He sighed and got up from the bed and went towards Chitra. He put a comforting hands around Chitra and when Chitra looked up, his eyes spoke the much needed comfort for her. Sashi was like a son for her and one of her children is suffering, she got the comfort from her other children. Even Karthik was watching everything from the door. Indirectly, he was also the reason for Vijay to suffer like this. If he'd stood by his brother's side on that fateful day, Vijay won't be suffering like this. His eyes stayed on Vijay and did not even blinked for a second, bringing tears in his eyes. Sensing someone behind him, Sashi turned towards the door and saw Karthik with tear stricken face. He sighed. He could see the guilt in his eyes and the tears flowing continously was the evidence. All of them had a part in Vijay's sufferings. They all turned deaf ears to all of his pleas on that day and now it turned into a nightmare for him.

"Sir", Kavitha's  soft voice could be heared in the room. All of their attention turned towards her and Vijay, who responded to her voice. She took his hands and squeezed it. It was her first time holding some other man's hand other than her husband with consciousness. But it did not bothered, all she wanted was her Savior Vijay to recover from this suffering.

"Shh...See I am all right", Kavitha said with a small smile. She was sitting at the right side of Vijay. May be seeing Kavitha or by hearing her voice, Vijay's tears stopped.

"Go back to sleep", she said gently. The gentle and soothing voice, made the great DSP to obey. He lied down on the bed and his grip on her hands tightened. She smiled and looked at their hands.

"I will be here, when you wake up", Kavitha once again said with the soothing voice,making Vijay to close his eyes. After few minutes of dreading silence in the room, she could feel that Vijay was asleep. His steady breath confirmed that and she turned to look at the people in the room. Though Vijay was sleeping his grip on her hands did not loosened. And now the daze of helping her Savior broke, she panicked to look at the people around her.

'I am holding his hands. They may misunderstand me', she thought but she could see were the grateful looks. After that everything went fine. Karthik gave some injection to Vijay. "Thank you Kavitha", Karthi said and moved out of the room. She could see the tears in his eyes. Chitra came forward and kissed his forehead caressing his head. She also came towards her and hugged her muttering a Thank You with teary eyes. Kavitha can see how much this family loved this man. Sometimes she feel jealous on Vijay for having this lovable family but many times she feel grateful for Vijay for bringing her into this family. She was brought out of her memory lane, when she felt a hand on her shoulders. She turned and  there stood Vijay with a plate full of foods. And a cute little smile.
