Chapter - 33 - Missing?

It's been two weeks, since she had seen Vijay. She got informed that he went to the capital city for a conference and he will return after a month. Though she had Chitra and Vijitha with her, she was somewhat afraid of the people in that house. She caressed her little baby bump to relax her mind. Whenever her mind mocks her with the fact that she was alone, the little life growing inside her made sure to mock back at her mind. She chuckled at her thoughts. She was sitting near the window of her room, looking out at the beautiful sunset. The orange hue spreading over the sky made her to realise how fast a day went for her. Viji and Rithvin took Mazhi to park. She was always cranky by not seeing Vijay. It was very hard for Kavitha to make Mazhi sleep at night. It was Vijay who always make Mazhi sleep whenever she wake up in middle of the night. Mazhi was habituated to sleeping in the warmth of Vijay and as now she was missing him, she was always cranky. Kavitha sighed realizing how much she was becoming dependent on someone. She hated herself for being dependent on other people. All the bad things happened in her life because of her dependence on some one.
She got married at a very young age because she was dependent on her father.

She was not able to speak or do anything according to her will because she was dependent on her husband.

The only good thing that ever happened to her: She was found by Vijay on that fateful day.

She don't know whether she would be living at the moment, if it was some other person other than Vijay. She sighed agreeing with her heart that she was warming up with Vijay and his family. Her heart and mind were always seems to be in a conflict now a days, especially after the lunch she had with Vijay. She had not experienced the warmth and comfort in Vijay's hug from anyone else in the world. She knew Baskar had cared for her but she never felt safe around him. Though he never forced her for anything, she had seen the way how the daughter in laws were treated in that house. Baskar had stood by her whenever she was treated badly, he fought with his family for educating her. But, never once she felt the warmth, she got from Vijay and it scared her. And sometimes, what we fear is a kind of warning from the God. She sighed and continued to look out at the sun set hoping that her worries will go down like the sun goes down.

Viji and Rithvin were returning from the park with Mazhi when she received a call from Vijay. She smiled and switched to video call so he could talk to Mazhi. She gave mobile to Mazhi who was sitting silently in Rithvin's lap. They all knew that Mazhi was missing Vijay as she was not in her usual cheerful self.

"Mazhi kutty ma", Vijay said and that's all took Mazhi to smile widely.

"Viz", she said and her lips trembled. One look at her, Vijay know that she missed him as much as he missed her.

"No baby. Don't cry. How are you? Where are you?", Vijay asked to distract her. Like predicted Mazhi started telling him all the things she had done. Vijay listened to her curiously. His heart skipped a beat whenever Mazhilini's Ma was mentioned. He can not deny it any more, he was missing Kavitha. He called his mom everyday hoping that he could atleast hear her voice. But to his bad luck, his mom was always in the hospital whenever he called. And when Chitra called, he was always busy. Only God knows how he managed to sleep at nights. Though the conference was good and opened an opportunity to meet new people, he felt something was not right. Like him, Sashi was also assigned with a special case and was out of office for nearly two weeks. He was just nodding his head for Mazhilini's speech but he got stunned for a minute when Mazhi in her baby voice said,

"Ma too missed you"

'Kavitha missed me?', his mind made a little dance.

"Really?", Vijay asked with a enthusiastic voice.

Viji and Rithvin looked at each other with giggles. Viji raised her eye brows silently asking 'From when this happened?'

He looked away embrassed.

"Vijay bro, on serious note Mazhi said that we all missed you earlier. But it seems you were not listening", Rithvin chripped in with a mischievous glint.

"Rithvin", Vijay said warningly.

"Okay!! I know that look. I will zip my mouth", Rithvin replied with a smile.

"Okay guys.. I have to go. Let's hang up the call", Vijay said.

"Okay Anna(Elder Brother)", Viji said.

"Mazhi say bye to your viz", Viji said and turned the phone towards Mazhi.

"Mazhi kutty ma, you are a big girl. You should take care of Ma okay?", Vijay said and waited for the answer which came back immediately as

"Okay Viz" and waved her hands saying a bye.

"Viji, Rithvin take care of everyone at the home, will you?", Vijay asked and his siblings nodded her head with a smile.

"Okay bye guys..See you soon", Vijay said and hanged up the call. Rithvin and Viji too started the car towards their home.

Meanwhile,

"Mahesh, you made a good move", Sekar said.

"While Vijay and Sashi out of picture, we can place some of our loyal workers in their respective offices to spy on them", Sekar added while sipping his drink.

"Yes, I have already talked with the minister regarding this", Mahesh added with a sinister smile.

"Good to hear Mahesh", Sekar said. They both continued to enjoy their drinks, while a pair of eyes looked at them through the system screen wondering what this duo were upto.
