Chapter 9 - At Early Morning

Kavitha woke up sweating badly because of a scary nightmare. Adding to that not finding Mazhilini beside her, she was perplexed. She looked around the room and that's when she noticed a man sleeping in the couch inside her room holding her daughter. She was scared at first then she recognized that man as Vijay.

Kavitha was confused why Vijay had to sleep in her room by holding Mazhilini. She also noticed the smile in Vijay's face while sleeping.
'He is a good Police man. He bought a stranger to his house with a daughter. Also he was looking after her daughter as his own child', Kavitha thought.

Mazhilini stirred in the sleep making Vijay to wake up from his deep slumber. He gently patted Mazhilini and made her sleep again. He looked for his cell phone to look at the time. It was half past seven in the morning. Once again he missed his gym time but it's  worthy because he can hold his Mazhi kutty ma. He slept only at 4 clock in the morning and that's not new for him. Many times he had to work on night duties. He smiled after recalling the previous incidents. He felt relived after learning that Kavitha had sleeping pills as suggested by his mom.

And then came his idiotic sister Viji,who asked him to make tea for her as she was studying for her final exams. Vijay prepared tea for his little sister and came back to Kavitha's room to make Mazhilini sleep in bed.But when he tried to make her lye beside Kavitha, her grip on him tightened and she was not ready to leave him. So without any choice he slept in the couch. His smile vanished when he realised that he was in Kavitha's room in the early morning.

"How could I fall asleep here. I should have left with Mazhi to my room. Okay now Vijay act fast. Let's leave the room before Kavitha wake up", Vijay muttered and got ready to leave.

Kavitha noticed Vijay from the bed; from the way he held Mazhilini tightly while searching for his mobile to the self talking he had done. She had also noticed the regret his face had. She chuckled and that got the attention of Vijay. Vijay turned to her side and his eyes widened.

"What she will think of me", that's the first thought came to Vijay when he saw Kavitha smiling at him.

"Sorry"

"Thank You"

Vijay and Kavitha said at the same time respectively.

"Why"

Once again they both said at the same time and their lips curved into a small smile.

"Ummm..Mam sorry. Actually I came here when Mazhilini cried and made her to sleep. But she didnot leave me when I made her to sleep beside you. That's why I slept here", Vijay said and bought Mazhilini to Kavitha.

"I understand and thank you for taking care of Mazhilini yesterday", Kavitha said to Vijay.

Vijay made Mazhilini to lye in the bed and nodded his head with a smile.

"You get fresh up and come for breakfast. I will send Viji for helping you", Vijay said and left the place leaving behind a smiling Kavitha.

Kalaiselvi noticed Chitra making table ready for the breakfast. She decided to execute her plan in the breakfast table. Though Chitra had not shown any partiality towards any one in the family, Kalai always felt insecure about her place in the house. Kalai had a plan to marry off her daughter Suchitra to Vijay. Though her younger brother had two sons, Vijay was her perfect choice.But she failed to realise that God's plan will prevail. Vijay and Chitra are the major shareholders of their company. So making Vijay as her son in law, Kalai can stay in the house as long as she wishes. Her dreams came crumbling down when Vijay came with Kavitha. She had full in Vijay but her insecure mind said otherwise. Thus she wanted to know about Kavitha and she wanted to use the perfect opportunity to get details about them in their breakfast table.

'When Chitra is setting up the table then it's the time for family breakfast', Kalai thought and went to her room to get ready.

Chitra wanted to clarify about the woman her son had brought home. She had clearly noticed the curious looks of her family members from that night. She decided to ask Kavitha to stay on their home as long as she wishes. But she have to inform this to her family members. She was the one who implemented the idea of 'Discussion over the table', to enable the transparency in the family.

So she decided to cook for her family. Mostly she won't cook in the house but when she does it will be the treat to everyone in the house. Today, she had cooked everyone's favorite, Roti with tomato curry. With the help of the maid, she set the table for her family.

While setting up the table, she remembered how Ranjan had taught her to set up the table;how he had always praised her for her cooking skills. It has been years,but the memories they had created lives forever. She wiped her tears and looked at her work.

"Work? Scratch that.Its an art", she remembered her husband saying this to her.

She chuckled and looked up to see her son ready to have breakfast.
