Chapter 20 - Further More

The sweet aroma of freshly baked cookies filled Vijay's nostrils when he returned back from his work. No one in his household other than his mom can make cookies. He looked at his watch and wondered how much earlier his mother returned from the hospital.

"Ma, what a pleasant surprise", he entered the kitchen to get surprised.

Kavitha was startled by Vijay's voice.  Chella ma and Kavitha turned to Vijay who was standing in the entrance of the kitchen with a surprised look.

"Come in Vijay, do you need anything?", Chella ma asked.

"Umm.. I thought Ma came earlier", Vijay said with a slight disappointment.

"And why would you think like that bro. You know that this not Chitra mom's usual time to return home", this time his little brother Rithvin asked from the kitchen counter having cookies in his hands. Vijay was silent not knowing what to answer.

"Ahaan, I know the answer", Rithvin continued when the realization dawned upon him.

"You also felt the same right?"

"These cookies smell like Chitra mom's cookies", Rithvin asked in a teasing tone.

While Vijay was trying to answer there came another voice stating,

"Ma, you came back earlier than me"

Rithvin, Vijay, Chella ma and Kavitha laughed hearing Vijitha. Kavitha felt light hearted after many days. She always wanted this kind of family; a little brother to tease her; a little sister to fight with her; a big brother to take care of her. Though she had everyone no one wanted her. No one needs her. Her laughter died down turning into sadness.

Vijay stared at Kavitha who was laughing. He could tell that she is laughing like that after many days. He also noticed that her face fell.

'Maybe she's thinking of her family', Vijay thought. Her doctors words rang in his ears.
He wanted to take away her sadness because it will lead her to depression, which is not good for her and her baby, he reasoned with his inner conscious that created a question about his care towards Kavitha.

But who knows?

May be it was God's will

May be it was devil's game

Only future holds the answer.

Meanwhile, Karthik looked at the reports infront of him and sighed. He was not able to focus on his work when one of his family member is causing trouble for the whole family. He had always looked up at his Chitra mom, now he wanted to take away her worries; he wanted her smile to reach her eyes. He was not able to spend time with Vijay too. They were once pretty close, trouble makers of the entire family. Now also they are close but not as earlier. Karthik abandoned his brother at that time but not this time. All the things changed after that  incident, which he didnot wanted to remember. But a human mind will wander back to the unwanted memories that we wanted to forget right? And do you think Karthik will be an exception to it? No...

A knock on his door caused him to come out of his memory lane.

"Yes, come in please", Karthik said.

'May be another set of reports', he thought with a sigh but was surprised to see his classmate standing in his door with a wide smile.

Sekar and Mahesh was waiting for the ACP in his room. In their earlier meeting ACP assured them that he will help them to find the girl who went missing with their documents. And one week after they got a call from ACP office to meet him. So they were waiting for ACP Sashi in his room.

Sekar had many thoughts running through his mind. He was hopeful that ACP might have found that girl. After meeting with the ACP, he ran a background check on ACP. All he heard  were praises for Sashi. From what Sekar gathered, Sashi was famous for many successful underground operations. So he set his hope high on Sashi. Though some reliable sources said that Sashi was looking after drug trafficking cases in the past, Sekar hoped for the best. Also he was answerable to his mother. After his brother's utter betrayl, his mother Lekha was very much worried and was not concentrating in the business. It took a definite toll on their profits. After many days they were close to sealing a deal, which is important to them. Sekar had worked on the project day and night. The dealing benefit will Lekha Industries more. The projected profit from the business was nearly 63%.So he wanted to clean up very mess from the past so that it can not affect the future especially his project.

But mistakes from the past will come to bite us in the future, if we didnot repent for it right?
Let's wait for knowing that...
