Chapter - 32 - The Aftermath

'With all your flaws I accept you as my beloved wife, like how you have accepted me as your husband', she heared her friend say and jumped up to clap her hands for the couple.
Her high pitched congratulations reached the couple standing infront of the aisle making them return the smile.

After all the wishes and the exchange of pleasantries she came out of the venue only for her breath to get struck. There he stood with a bunch of flowers and a gift box, draped in a tailor made suit, looking handsome as ever. She forget to breath when he smiled and walked towards her. There were many people around her watching the scene. Her heart skipped a beat, when he gave her the flowers and placed a gentle kiss on her forehead.

"Happy Anniversary,love", he said and she lost it.

She sobbed and hugged him tightly, with tears flowing through her eyes. She was terribly missing him throughout this day and he came all the way from home, just to surprise her. She snuggled more into his chest making him chuckle.

"Suchi, let us go home", he declared and without waiting for the reply he dragged her with him and she followed him with a smile.

Vijay sat in his room with a smile. He was feeling relaxed after many days. All thanks to Kavitha and Mazhilini. He had spent the previous day with Kavitha and Mazhilini. He prepared food for her as a gesture to thank her for helping him at his lowest. He knew how wild he can get if he was affected by the nightmare. Once he had thrown a vase on his mother. His heart sank with that memory. He did not wanted to live in his past. His mind drifted back to the good memories he had with Kavitha on that day.

He gathered Intel from Chella Ma for her favorite foods, made all the works himself and went to her room with the plate of her favorite Chicken Biryani and Chicken pepper fry. He remembered all their household helpers looked at him with wide eyes, when he took the lunch to Kavitha.

'Wow, it's smell is nice', he heared someone say and smiled. He chuckled remembering the way Kavitha reacted to him, when she saw the plate. It was one the best lunch he had in the past few years. He felt relaxed and content with her. He clearly remembered the sequence of events that took place inside Kavitha's  room on that day.

Let us go down the memory lane of Vijay to see the things happening between our male and female lead.

On that day,

Kavitha turned towards Vijay with panic, when he placed a hand on her shoulders. Earlier, when he came to her room, he saw her pacing down the room with worry lines itched to her face. He noticed how her facial expressions changed from worry lines to a smile. Looking at her, he can not help but chuckle. She did not even heared his chuckle and that's when he decided to stop her. Though he hesitated, some how he extended his hands and placed it on her shoulders. He stared at a beautiful black eyes which is staring back at him. He saw the panic turning into a relief in her eyes. He remembered the same eyes from his dream. He closed his eyes to compose himself. That bought both of them out of their daze.

"Umm I brought food for you", Vijay said to break the increasing silence. Kavitha looked at the plate in his hands surprised. Her eyes stinged with tears. In her 24 years of existence, no one had ever brought food for her. Vijay frowned looking at the tears forming jn her eyes.

"Oh Kavitha, if you don't like this, I will make some other dish", Vijay said hurriedly.

"Please don't cry. It's not good for the baby", he continued without any break.

"Chella ma only told that you like to eat chicken biryani. So only I had prepared this", Vijay said sadly. Suddenly he wanted her to believe him. He was never like this before. He will not explain himself to anyone. In all the words said, Kavitha only got to hear
'I had prepared this'

She looked up at the man standing before her with teary eyes and asked,

"You prepared this biryani?"

"Yes, but I guess I am wrong in assuming that you like Chicken biryani. Don't.. ", Vijay's blabbering stopped when he felt a soft body hugging him. He was stunned for a minute. He could feel that she was mumbling something but he was not in a state of understanding anything. He slowing brought his hands up and hugged her back. That's it. He felt safe and content after many days. She slowing came back to her senses and got away from Vijay, instantly missing the warmth of his hug. Vijay cleared the throat to get her attention.

"Thank you Sir", she whispered still looking down at her feet with embrassment.

"Why", Vijay asked uncertainly.

"No one sir, no one even from my own family had not prepared a meal for me", Kavitha said looking up at him with teary eyes. Seeing the tears in her eyes, something in his heart moved. He suddenly wanted to wipe away all the reasons for her tears. His heart suddenly started to feel something for the woman standing infront of him. He stared at her without knowing what he have to do and she stared back at him with an unknown emotion in her eyes. Their staring contest was broken by a whimper from Mazhilini. After that everything was normal between them. They both went towards the bed to check on Mazhi. Vijay gently patted her back to make her sleep again and gestured Kavitha to eat. She happily went to get her plate of biryani. When she took the first bite of that chicken biryani, she closed her eyes and savored the taste of the dish in delight. She hurriedly took next few bites.

Vijay chuckled remembering the way, she had finished eating the last bite of the biryani served in her plate. He was glad that Kavitha like his biryani. He peaceful bubble bursted by a phone call from his higher authority.
