Chapter 34- Questions

Luke POV:

"Now, you belong to me Hollow"  Those are the last words that drifted through my head.  It all hit me at once, the pain of my injuries, the smell of blood fills my nostrils and the exhaustion of the night creeps up on me.  Just a little rest, I close my eyes but decide quickly that it's a bad idea.

There could still be danger of rogues and I can't just lay here and wait for someone to find me.  

'LUKE!  Where are you?!'

'Are you with the Luna?'

'Did you find her?'

'We can barely feel your wolf'

'Are you okay?'

'Where are you Luke?'

I open up my mindlink and all the questions worries crash into my mind.  It all hurts, until the Alpha cuts in, he doesn't seem happy.  At all...

'I'm on the Westside, you won't have a problem finding me then.'

'What do you mean?  The Westside has the thickest brush.'

I try to reply, but I'm too tired.  I'll just wait for them to come.

ZANE POV: 

After losing contact with Luke, I sent out a few to the Westside including myself while I left the rest to clean up the bodies from the rogue attack.  

I quickly pick up the scent of blood then another scent overwhelms it.  The scent of my mate.  I rush in that direction with others following me.  As the scent gets stronger so does the smell of blood.  

I come out to an opening and see Luke lying on the ground with his eyes closed.  Is he dead?!  I run to his side and hear his heart is slowly beating.  Good, he's still alive.  

That's when I notice his wounds.  What did this?  It couldn't have been a wolf right?  I can even hear sizzling, as if he was struck by silver.  

I lean him against a tree when he opens his eyes.  

"Luke are you okay?!"  I ask with concern

"Yeah, I'll live."  His eyes slowly shut then open again.

"Luke listen to me, keep your eyes open."  I pick him up and hand him over to one of the warriors.  "Take him to the hospital quickly."

Luke grabs my arm lightly, "I won't die, he told me."  Then his hand drops and his eyes close.  "Take him to the hospital now, I'll get a doctor ready!"

The warrior soon takes off then while I look around the scene in front of me.  Looks more like a aftermath of a massacre.  There's blood and torn up bodies everywhere.  

"Alpha, there is no survivors!"  Duke, a promising young warrior yells to me.  I nod and look for any traces of my mate.  There's that scent of hers, I follow it until it disappears in the forest.  My lycan growls angrily.  

"Keep searching for anything that might've caused this."  I mind link everyone who came with me as I head back in hope to get some answers when Luke wakes up.

So I rush to the pack hospital.  

"Alpha!"  Luke's parents stand up and bow.  "It is always a honor to see you, Alpha."  

"Are you here to see our son?"  Luke's father asks, wrapping his arm around his wife.

"Yes, how is his condition?  I saw how bad his wounds were."  The couple smile at me then at each other.

"He's going to make it through, the doctors said the sliver that was dug into his back and chest was very serious, it was a miracle.  Normally no wolf could survive what he went through."

"That's great, is he resting now?"  I question to see if I can go in yet or not.

"Yes, Kenna is in there with him, he should be sleeping."

"Ok, I'll head in too"  I wave bye to them and head off to his hospital bed.

I can hear Luke's and Kenna's voices talking.  I was about to knock when I here my name.

"But Kens, if its true what she did to me, how am I suppose to know if its an actually order or not now?!"  

"Relax Luke, Zane can be very understanding in most situtations so I'm sure this time will be fine too."  Should I be insulted for her saying that?

"He's going to kill me this time though, like what if he doesn't believe me?  Maybe I should look into what that voice called me."  

"Then just don't tell him."  I can just imagine Kenna shrugging her shoulders.

"But-"  I've had enough, I barge in there and they quit talking right away.

"Please don't mind me, continue."  I smirk at them and I can tell they got chills just now.  

"Um anyway, I just remembered I need to go see my dad.  haha!  Bye!"  Yeah, you couldn't make it anymore obvious Kenna.  I let her go and look at Luke as he avoids eye contact.

"Uh, how much did you hear?"  he nervously asks.

"Right around, if it's true what she did to me..."  I answer sitting down.  "And by 'she' you mean the person you were with in the forest?" 

He flinches but nods.  "Tell me Luke was it nice to be with my mate late at night?"  I can feel anger building up inside.  How dare he be with my mate when I haven't been able to!

"Not really" He whimpers.  "What do you mean 'not really'?  Tell me what happened."  He turns around to face me and begins to speak but nothing comes out.  His lips are moving but his voice isn't coming out.  

I glare at him and he begins to explain.  "This is what I mean.  The only thing I was able to tell Kens was you mate or something did four things to me but I can only explain one.  And that is, she or 'it' saved me.

"If she saved you, then what attacked you?"  He shakes his head and looks down.  "I can't answer that."  

We pause for a minute of silence when he breaks it.

"Oh!  I didn't tell anyone this but 'it' called me a Hollow.  Do you know what that is Zane?"  I feel like I heard that before.  Where was it?  I can't remember...

"No, I'll look into it when I have the chance though."  I reassure him.  

"Great!  When I get out of here I'm going to look into it as soon as possible.  A Hollow sounds creepy but cool...like in a legendary way, you know?!"  

There he goes looks like he's back to himself right.  I'll try my other questions later.
