Chapter 22- Alpha Meeting

ZANE POV

"Zane? You alright?" I heard a familiar voice say behind me. I blink twice and turn around to face Miles Black, a hunter who is half werewolf actually.

"Did something happen? You're actually smiling, did you find your mate?!" He asks with hope.

I think for a moment and decide not to tell him, he doesn't normally like any kind of rogue wolves. Not that it will matter anyway she will become my luna in the future. My little red riding hood.

I fake a frown, "No, but I did just notice, a new she wolf? Rogue?"

"Ah, yes that must've have been Tasha you saw. She has quite the temper, so watch out for her." He says jokingly but he has no idea how serious my beast is.

"Yeah, we'll keep a good eye on her next time." Drax says

"Anyway, there is a reason why I came here." I say dryly looking at him.

"Yes, yes, always down to business as usual I see." He walks away with me in tow and eventually we make it to the stairs that lead underground. This is where meetings are held with alphas and other important people happen since this is neutral land.

We enter into one of the first rooms on the left and the three other alphas and previous alphas and lunas, including my father and mother are here with the principal. I take my seat at the end of the table and Miles starts the meeting.

"As I told Harris earlier, there was an attack outside during my gym class today. It was all good for the first 20 minutes then when we were by the safe part of The Woods. I went in, but not that far I heard this gurgling and hissing noise. It was really weird, I've never heard such a terrifying sound before. I bent down to pick up the football and that's when it attacked. A long black tendril wrapped itself around my ankle and started dragging me deeper into the Woods and that's when I started hearing wheezing so I cut myself loose and ran out of there. Other than being terrified I was fine. I thought it was over but it wasn't. Black tendrils wrapped around one of my students so I went to help her but more shot out and wrapped around me and then another student was being dragged and I couldn't do anything. I was so afraid, so when I was in the Woods again, it hung me upside down and just stayed there. Like it was waiting for something, but I don't know what.-

"Okay we get it, do you know what it was that attacked you? How did you even escape?" Alpha Arthur asks impatiently.

"I'm getting there" Miles blows out as if it was the biggest problem Arthur interrupted. "Then as I was trying to tied myself, one of my students let me loose and defending me was I was getting to my feet. So I-

"Who was it?" Arthur interrupted again. Miles and a few others glare at him.

"It was Tasha Maple who was defending me,- As soon as he mentioned my mate's name Drax immediately paid more attention. -she was more like blocking the tendrils from getting to me actually. She wasn't fighting it. Anyway, so when the tendrils disappeared she seemed alarmed when she heard a scream and raced off in that direction. So I followed her as fast as I could and when I got to the scene, this time she was actually fighting a black creature that I have only seen books and heard rumors about. A Blackening."

A few low growls and gasps went around the room. I heard about these dark beings, but did read much into them since they never were a problem before. I know they target others with good auras and respect those with evil auras.

"Quiet! Let Miles Black continue then we will discuss the situation." I yell over the loud whispers going around the table.

"Thank you Alpha. As I was saying, it was a blackening that attacked us and Tasha was fighting it, well more like killing it. The Blackening was even fighting back that hard. Call me a coward but I probably couldn't help her so I stayed where I was in the shadows. Tasha was doing just fine by herself and killed it easily from what I could tell..." He hesitates for a second but continues. "When she killed it, she ran in the direction of the school and I did too then. So I took my class inside right away and sent them to my class room as I took Tasha and Selene to the office. And everyone knows the rest." Miles finishes and sinks into his chair. That's when all the questions come out.

"Who is this Tasha is she new?"

"Why are they attacking now?!"

"Is this a declaration of war?!"

"How come they targeted Selene?"

"How can a she-wolf kill a Blackening?"

"Could she be a threat?" I growled at that but covered it with a cough when some faces turned to me.

"We should take them into questioning." That's when Miles comes in.

"That won't be necessary. I already questioned her and it didn't go over that well. She didn't give me many answers.-"

"Then we will force her to talk!"

"There are lives at stake and the she-wolf stays silent?!"

"silence!" I shout. "She's a rogue, so of course she won't spill everything. We should make her feel welcomed instead of forced to answer questions."

"How do you know she's a rogue?"

"Why should we make her feel welcomed?! This is pack territory!" I growl for the disrespect of my mate, but they take it as disrespect towards me.

"No one has seen her before so obviously she's a rogue and second she took down a Blackening alone. So she's smart and would be hard to pin down so it is possible she will never talk. Plus, I did see her head off with someone else when I got here. So we don't know what he is, if he is another wolf or something else. Plus this land is actually neutral territory so rogues are allowed here no matter what." I finish and glare at anyone who dares to argue with me.

"Alright, what is the plan then?" My father points out.

"We keep tighter security around the school and territories near the Woods. No one goes near that side of the Woods. And we will have some girls be friend Tasha in a few days.  If anyone tries to become friends with her now, she might think it's set up." With that said no one disagreed.

"Technically it still is". Drax growls out grumpily.  Obviously not happy with tricking our mate.
