~Minty~

I woke up bright and early on Thursday morning. I dressed in my black skirt with my white, pug shirt and black converse. I put my hair in a simple ponytail then used the bathroom and brushed my teeth. I then dashed downstairs to the kitchen.
"Hey Nora!" I said happily as I ran into the kitchen. She jumped in surprised at my voice and her reading glasses fell off her face.

"Oh, Minty, your up." She said and moved something behind her back. I frowned and at her.
"What are you doing Nora?" I asked tilting my head and she laughed nervously.
"Oh err, just a shopping list." Nora said. That's odd. She went shopping yesterday.
"Nora you went shopping yesterday." I stated and she went pale with realisation.

"Oh yeah, well, I remembered that we needed," she began holding a notepad that was behind her back to the front of her. "Balloons." She said slowly then put the pad behind her back and smiled at me weirdly.
"Okay, why do we need ballons?" I asked and she looked at me then to the floor then to the open kitchen door.
"Oh, look at that, the others are coming down." She began gesturing and I turned to see the older kids coming into the dining room and sitting down.

I looked back at Nora to see she was holding plates of buttered toast.
"Better serve breakfast!" She said while quickly walking into the dinning room. I frowned and slowly followed her in then sat in my seat. Okay then, that wasn't strange. As I ate my toast no one really talked to me. Those that did were also acting like Nora. What is wrong with everyone today?

~3rd person~

10 minutes after eating their breakfast the bus arrived to pick up the kids.
"Okay, everyone get your stuff." Nora said and they did as they were told and all walked out to the bus. Nora walked with Minty and as she got on she smiled at Mack.
"Hey Mack, after you finish your shift, I wanna word with you." Nora said and Mack gave her a thumbs up.

"You got it Nora." He said and Minty waved at her from the window seat she was sat in.
"Bye Nora!" She called and Nora waved back as the bus started to move forward. Minty stopped waving and looked down at her hands for a minute before looked up at Mack.
"Mack? Why does Nora want to talk to you?" she asked him. Mack looked at her in the mirror above his head.

"Well, I'm not sure kid. It could be about you or one of the other kids." Mack said as he drove. Minty frowned.
"How do you know Nora?" She asked and Mack looked at her in the mirror with a smile.
"I was in her orphanage with a friend of mine." He said and my eyes went wide.

"Your an orphan?" I asked and Mack shook his head.
"No, Nora fostered me until I left school." He explained.
"What about your friend?" I asked.
"He went off to become a pilot for the U.S airforce." He said.
"Wow," I exclaimed and he nodded with a smile.
"Yep, we trained together and I was in the Air Force for a bit as well." He added and I shook my head in disbelief.

"No way." I said and he chuckled a little.
"Yes way. I could fly a U.S fighter jet, a helicopter and a sea plane before I could drive this school bus." He said looking at the road and tapping the steering wheel.
"Why did you leave the Air Force?" I asked.
"I wanted to do something I love. I sit and drive this bus around the streets of New York because I love New York and I love to drive." He said and I nodded.
"And I love the kids as well." He added and I smiled.
