~Minty~

After Mystery left dad made cheese burgers with chips and ketchup for dinner which were yummy! We were going to watch big hero 6, mom and dad couldn't believe I hadn't seen it yet, but they got a phone call from the hospital. At 6 in the afternoon weird I know. But mom said that their health system has some problems. Nothing is perfect though. But the phone call was about the baby. They wanted mom to come to get a scan thing of the baby in her belly. How they would do that I didn't have a clue but dad said to ask if I wanted so I probably would. It sounded cool that they could do something like that and I wanted to know how they would. The time was 3pm and it was at Brighton hospital in the maternity section, wherever that was in Brighton.

I've lived here for over a month now and I still don't know it that well. I would do a little better after today though because before we were going to go to the hospital we were going to go do Christmas shopping, since it was 5 days until Christmas day now. It was late for them to be doing Christmas shopping in my opinion. Nora always did it nearly a month before and had everything organised but before me they just had the two of them to worry about when it came to Christmas and they would go and visit family in Sweden and Italy. But this time they would have some more people and animals to worry about this Christmas. So, with dad driving, we went to Brighton shopping mall. Or shopping centre as they say here in England.

The centre was in the busy part of town popular with shoppers and tourists. The centre's entrance was on the high street that had cafes, some nice clothes shops that had fashion from stuff that mom wears to track suits and trainers with beanies and stuff. There was also a few brand shops with fancy names like Gucci and Selfridges and Poundland. Oh wait, dad said that wasn't an expensive shop. Clue was in the name of the store at to what to what the prices were like. I still wanted to go in out of curiosity.
"We may go in to pick up a few things later." Dad said swinging the hand he held back and forward as we walked down the street to the main shopping centre.

We were just going to look in some shops and get something to eat for lunch. One of the first stores that immediately caught my eye was a gaming shop called Game, ironically. There were huge colourful sighs saying there was a sale to celebrate that there was a big game released. The latest Mario Kart game on Wii U was on sale and I hadn't played Mario Kart since I was younger.
"Mom dad look!' I exclaimed pointing at the sign with Mario Kart.
"Oh yeah they're having a sale on for Christmas." Dad said sliding his glasses back up his nose on his bearded face.
"They have Mario Kart dad!" I said tugging on his arm with my other one that wasn't pointing at the sign.

"Would you like that for Christmas Minty?" Mom asked. I nodded eagerly and said please.
"Okay, but you aren't aloud it until Christmas," Mom took my hand and we walked towards the shop with dad behind us.
"You have to let me beat you at it a few times too kid." Dad said as we walked into the shop. I looked back at squinting my eyes.
"You wouldn't do that dad." I said stopping, making him and mom stop too.
"I'm poodiepie kiddo, I'll roast you at Mario Kart." He said crouching down to my level. Him saying 'poodiepie' in a slightly funny voice made me want giggle but I just shook my head.

"I'm Mintehpie. You wouldn't roast me at Mario Kart because you're my dad and will go easy on me." I said sassily saying 'Minteh' instead of the normal way of saying it, kind of copying dad. Then I tugged on his beard making him shriek and flail his arms before he fell back from crouching in front of me knocking into one of the hanging racks of PS2 games making the games all shake, but none of them fell off and no one saw thankfully. Except mom who shrieked too but not as loud as dad who was looking around embarrassed to see if anyone saw but no one did thankfully and surprisingly.
"You both need to get up and save this rivalry for Christmas day." Mom told us holding her back strap.
