~Minty~

As we drove I looked out the window to see that there were some busy New Yorkers starting their day with the rain pouring down on them. Usually I don't like the rain because it makes me freezing cold but there was something about the way it made the buildings and pavement and cars on the streets glow in the morning sun that made the rain make New York look warm and fuzzy. I looked out the window with my wide green eyes as the taxi driver drove, and honked his horn, down the streets to the airport. Nora was talking to him a little and looking out of her window too. She hand my large pink suitcase in front of her and I had my backpack on my lap. My little legs were handing over the seat.

"How far are we from the airport?" I asked Nora a little impatiently.
"About fifteen minutes, but Marzia and Felix told me your flight is at eight am." Nora told me with a warm smiled and I nodded.
"I really wanna go now!" I exclaimed and she laughed.
"I know you do, but you need to be patient Minty." She said tucking one of my ginger hairs out of my eyes.
"Hey, the traffic's moving. We'll be there in about five." the driver said and I grinned widely.
"Great." I said and looked up at Nora. The driver didn't lie either. We were at the airport in five minutes flat.

There were hardly any cars in the car park but some cars and coaches outside the airport. The front entrance of the airport had large glass doors with a few people in smart suits on phones talking. They were stood under a glass shelter that stopped a few meters from the side of the road. That meant that went I got out of the taxi I would get rained on, nuts.
"Here we are, that'll be seven bucks." The driver said and Nora quickly payed him. As I was taking off my seat belt and putting my back pack on my back, I looked out to see that Felix was walking to our taxi. He was wearing beige trousers, a dark navy coat and had his hands in his pockets with a grin on his face. Before he stepped out from the shelter that prevented the rain he pulled up his collar on his coat and opened the door of the taxi.

"Hey kid." He said reaching for me. I let him pick me up then place me carefully on the ground then he closed the door.
"Wait for me." Nora said getting out on the other side.
"Of course." Felix said taking hold of my hand. Nora strode around the taxi just before it drove away and we rushed towards the airport entrance. Felix opened the door for us and we rushed in. We surprisingly only got a little wet. Maybe because Felix was there for us he was able to protect us from the rain. Yeah, Felix could do that. He's awesome, and he's gonna be my dad.

"How was your drive?" Felix asked us as we walked through the surprisingly busy airport.
"It was a little slow at first but eventually picked up." Nora said and Felix nodded.
"Awesome." Felix said and looked down at me.
"You best not be moody for your mom now Minty." Felix said with a playful look on his face. He and Nora laughed at me and I just shook my head frowning with a small smile on my face at him.
"She's not a teenager yet Felix." Nora said and Felix laughed more.
"Thank god." He said and I laughed and decided to look around a little more.

All around me was either people in business suits, or young sleepy families returning from trips or young couples walking hand in hand in and out. It was mostly people in business suits that looked like they were half asleep but in a rush. Maybe this is where New York gets them all from!
"This your first time in an airport Minty?" Felix asked as we got to a desk that I think cheeked my new passport and papers and luggage.
"Yep, it is." I replied holding my bag straps.
"It's her first time flying too." Nora said as we passed through, surprisingly quickly.

We walked a little more, my hand holding Felix's and eventually reached Marzia, Billy, his sister Hayley who were sat together on a bench talking. Marzia was the first one to see me.
"Hey sweetheart." Marzia said as me Nora and Felix walked to them. Billy grinned when he saw me and he jumped up and ran to me then tackled me into a tight hug.
"Hi." He said as I hugged him back.
"Hi Billy." I replied and pulled away. I then was hugged by Daisy then by Alex.
"Here you are!" Daisy said happily and I nodded.
"Yep." I said then saw Marzia get up smiling. I smiled and walked over to her as well.
"Hey sweetie." She said and hugged me. I wrapped my arms around her tightly and felt her arms warm me up from the rain.

"How come your wet?" She asked pulling away.
"It was raining." I said and she pursed her lips.
"That's a shame, I won't lie saying that it rains in Brighton." Marzia said as we sat down. I giggled and shrugged.
"It's okay." I said and looked around a little at the airport and at the faces.
"When do you set off?" Billy asked Felix.
"Emm, we have to be on the plane soon, so I think it's best we get going now." Felix said speaking to Marzia at the end who nodded in agreement. I felt a little sad knowing that this was it now, I was leaving.
"Okay, well let's get going." Marzia said to me and I nodded then looked at Nora, Daisy, Alex, Hayley and Billy.
