Soft groans escaped the man, who was slowly stirring awake. The slow, rhythmic beeping of the hospital machines was all he could hear apart from his own ragged breathing.

Jaehyun squinted his eyes as he looked around the unfamiliar hospital room, trying to take in his surroundings. It was just him in there, no doctors, no nurses, not even his parents.

As if they had sensed their own son's thoughts, the door slammed open. A whimper left the woman's mouth as she rushed forwards to wrap her frail arms around him.

"Are you okay?" She sniffled, "You passed out and then there was blo—"

"I'm okay, mom." Jaehyun said softly, caressing her hair, "The alcohol I had last night must have acted up. It's just a hangover, don't worry."

Jaehyun's dad had a frown etched on his face as he watched his wife make a conversation with their son. They were really worried for Jaehyun.

He wasn't sure that a hangover could make someone bleed profusely from the nose. Maybe it was about time he asked the doctors about this.

"Let him sleep," He whispered to his wife, noticing how Jaehyun's eyelids had suddenly started drooping, his arms failing to have a tight hold on his mother.

She nodded, detaching herself as she leaned forward to kiss Jaehyun's temple, who slowly dropped himself into oblivion.

The door burst open as I looked up through the blankets of my now messy hair. A blurry Sunghoon made his way towards me, his breathing was fast and unsteady, as if he had ran his way here.

"What happened?" Sunghoon breathed out, looking worried after seeing my wary state.

Of course, discovering that your boyfriend had been escorted to the hospital early in the morning could be a news in itself. Moreover when his mother lied, it confirmed that it wasn't some regular check-up they had gone for at 4 AM.

Heeseung grabbed the photographs which were lying near his desktop system, passing them onto Sunghoon. Before he could start explaining, my phone rang.

I looked at the caller before directing my gaze at the other two men, "Jaehyun's mother." I muttered before picking up the phone.

"Areum?" She immediately asked as she noticed the line was picked up, before she waited for my response, "Hello?"

"Mom?" I voiced out, my voice cracking as I called her that. She had always insisted on the fact that I should call her 'mother' as she had her gut telling her that it would be Jaehyun I would marry in future.

Of course she didn't know how her dreams of me being a wife to her son were being crushed down by Jaehyun himself.

"I'm sorry." Her tone wasn't as bad as before, "Jaehyun has been admitted in the city hospital. He passed out," She took a noticeable pause, "From a hangover." She laughed it off.

"A hangover? Is he alright now?"

"Yes, he is sleeping right now or I would have asked him to talk to you." She said softly. I could almost imagine her sad smile as she talked to me.

I nodded even though I knew she couldn't see me.

"Child, I don't think it's safe for him to board back to Seoul in this condition," She started, "We'll send him back in a day or two late, okay?"

"Of course, his health is the first priority. Please take care of him." I said, my gaze set on my feet as I swung them back and forth.

A few moments later, she hung up saying that the doctor had showed up to check on Jaehyun.

"It was just a bad hangover. At most it might be alcohol poisoning she says," I said as I looked up to meet Heeseung's gaze. He sighed, we both genuinely thought something bad had happened to Jaehyun.

Sunghoon, however, kept quiet as he examined the photographs in his hands, squinting his eyes as he made out words 'AMBULANCE' in red among the blackness.

I watched as Sunghoon got up, digging his hands into his pant pocket, fishing out his phone.

"I'll be right back," He mumbled, barely audible, before he left the studio.

Once outside the studio, he took out the black wristband from his pocket which Taehee had dropped earlier in the restaurant. He wasn't dumb, nor was he naive, the line up of the events and the mysterious involvement of his ex-girlfriend could not be a co-incidence.

"It's about time we have a talk, Seo Taehee."
