A week has passed, and I still can't get Callie off my mind. Every time I see a a dark haired women down the street or in the cafe, I keep hoping it's Callie. It's so stupid, I bet she's living her life, not even giving me a second thought, and I'm here pining after someone who I had a one night stand with. The only good thing about my mind being distracted by Callie is that it leaves less room to think about her and the engagement and the heartbreak.
Today is Friday, and I can't wait to finish, we've decided to have a girly night at mine me Lexi and Amelia. It was only lunchtime, so we had a few hours before we closed. I was at the till making a coffee for a customer when I heard the door charm go letting us know someone has come in.
"There you go." I smiled at the first customer, handing them their coffee. They thanked me and left.
"Hello, is there a table for 3" a blonde haired woman asked.
"Yeah, sure over there." I smiled, pointing to the empty booth on the left
"I'll come and take your order in a minute,"
With that, I cleaned up the mess from the coffee, got my pad and pen, and walked to the table.
"What would you ladies like to have?" I smiled.
"I'll have a coffee and tuna panini," the brunette said
"I'll have the same please and Cal..oh never mind she's here," said the blonde woman.
I looked up as I heard the door go again and I couldn't believe my eyes. It was her. It's Callie, and she looks so beautiful, more beautiful than I remember. She walked to the table and smiled when she saw me before greeting her friends. A smile that you give a stranger. It's like she doesn't remember me. What am I kidding? Of course she doesn't.
"Just in time Callie what you having"
"Can I get a chicken panini and cup of coffee please?" she smiled.
"Er..erm yeah, I'll be back with your order." With that, I walked back to the counter.
"Beth, can you make these please?" I asked the blonde girl behind the counter.
"Sure," she smiled, she is a really nice lass, been here since it opened.
I started making the sandwiches, my hands shaking. I can't believe that she's here, but the way she acted, it's like she didn't recognise me, and that thought hurts since she hasn't left my mind since we met. I finished making the sandwich and went back to the table they were talking and laughing, and hearing her laugh again was like music to my ears.
"Here we go."I smiled, putting the food in front of them. I placed Callie's food in front of her, and our eyes locked, and I smiled, and she smiled back before thanking me. That was all. She doesn't remember me, I felt my stomach drop.
"Beth, you okay to keep an eye on things? I'll be back in 5"
"Okay,"
Without stopping, I practically ran into the office and shut the door, and tears started to fall down.
"Hey, what's wrong?" Lexi asked, looking up from the computer.
"she's here, Callie she's sat at table 6"
"Really, that's a good thing, isn't it? So why the tears?"
"she doesn't remember me,"
"What do you mean"
"I mean she looked at me a few times in the eye and never said anything like I was a complete stranger, I know it was a one night stand but I thought there was something special there but it was obviously one sided"
"oh Arizona" she said, getting up and pulling me into a hug. We stayed like that for a few minutes.
"Now wipe those tears and go show her what she's missing, and plus you can show me her." she handed me a tissue. I wiped my eyes and sorted myself out in the mirror, and we both left the office. When we got back to the front of the café I slyly pointed Callie out to Lexi.
"damn girl, she is fine." Lexi laughed.
"You're telling me"
Half an hour later, Callie came to pay the bill, and I tried to keep my cool and not get upset. As she handed me the money, our hands touched, and the bolt of electricity that I felt that night came shooting up my arm. I looked up at her, and our eyes locked, and for a few seconds, everything disappeared around me until the door opened and snapped me out of it.
"Keep the change." she smiled before turning away and walking out the door to re-join her friends. I can't believe it all week. All I have wanted was to see her again, and I finally do, and it turned out like this. All I wanted to do was get wasted and forget.
The last couple of hours seemed to drag, but eventually, it came time to close, and I was so grateful. I left Lexi to lock up so I could go get drinks and food for tonight from the shops. I got in my car and drove the 15-minute drive to the supermarket, I parked up and got a trolley and walked into the store. I walked straight to the alcohol aisle and picked up the wine and some more vodka. As I turned down the sweet aisle, I saw Carina and I froze my heart pounding she was with her fiancé. She looked up and saw me and smirked before she started to be all touchy feely with Maya and started kissing her, knowing that it would hurt me seeing that. I felt like I was going to be sick.
It took me a few seconds before I could move. I chucked whatever sweets was next to me and walked away. It is physically and mentally hurt seeing her like that, I know what she did was despicable and horrible, etc, but I loved her, and I still do. I rushed to the till and paid for the stuff and headed to my car, and as soon as I shut the door, I burst out crying. I must have been sitting there for about 10 minutes before I managed to stop crying, I wiped my eyes, and my nose took a deep set of driving home.
"What took you so long?" Amelia asked as I entered my house a while later.
"Sorry."
"What's wrong?" I told her what happened as I unpacked the bags.
"What an absolute dick."
"Today can just do one," I said as I opened a bottle of wine and started drinking from it.
"Slow down, here have a glass," Amelia said, giving me a glass.
"Nah, I'm good." I smiled, taking another swig from the bottle. She knew enough not to say any more.
10 minutes later, we ordered a takeaway. While we waited, we just sat and talked and drank. I was already a third of the way through the first bottle, but I didn't care. It's the only thing that helps ease the pain from everything that happened today. Half an hour later our food arrived and we sat and ate it. After we finished, we decided to play some games, which was going to be fun since I was halfway through a second bottle and was pretty tipsy already. To be honest, it did make it more entertaining as Amelia and Lexi were tipsy as well.
"right I think I'm gonna go bed I'm fucked" Lexi said as she laid sprawled on the floor after a hilarious game of twister.
"yeah me too" Amelia agreed.
"you too are bores, lets go out its only 12am " I whined
"we aren't used to drinking like you we cant handle it" Lexi laughed.
"urgh fine well I'm going" I stated as I stood up nearly losing my balance. I headed upstairs to get ready, which Is rather hard when your rather drunk, 15 minutes later I was walking out the door.
"see you tomorrow" I said as I shut the door before they had chance to reply or stop me as I know they wouldn't be happy with me going out. Luckily as I walked out the house a taxi was just dropping someone off so I jumped in and about 10 minutes later I arrived at my favourite club.
