The rest of the shift seemed to go so slowly. Callie barely spoke to me unless it was work related, and I couldn't find a time to talk to her properly, and it was making me feel shit. She left at 4:30 to get Sofia from nursey, and she barely said two words before walking out the door.
I know I shouldn't see Carina, but I feel like I need to hear what she had to say. Just before 6, she walked in and smiled when she saw me and took a seat by the door.
"I think you're an idiot," Lexi said as she finished putting the cups away.
"Maybe," I replied.
"I'll leave you to lock up then,"
"Yeah, okay." With that, she got her stuff and left, leaving me alone with Carina. My heart was pounding, and my hands started getting clamy as I walked and sat opposite her.
"I haven't got long," I said.
"I'll be quick then," she replied.
"Look, Arizona, I'm so so sorry for everything. Me and Maya recently broke up. She cheated on me, and it has really hurt me, and it made me realise how I must have made you feel, and I'm so sorry. I loved you, I still do, and I guess being horrible to you, etc, made it all a bit easier for me. I dont know. Also, I guess I thought if you hated me, it would make it easier for you as well. I know that doesn't make any sense. But anyway, I was a dick and I know sorry won't even come close to fixing what I did, but I am so sorry, Arizona. " I just stared at her, speechless.
"Say something," she said after a few seconds.
"I don't really know what to say. I mean, I appreciate your apology, but I can never forgive you for what you did. I was completely broken when you left me for Maya, but then you kept rubbing salt in the wounds, and that's what I can't forgive you for. You kicked me when I was down. You made me not want to live anymore, and if it wasn't for Lexi and Amelia, I probably wouldn't be here. "
"I know, and I truly am sorry. You deserved better than what I could give you at the time. You were the first person I truly loved, I ruined it for what? Yeah I loved Maya we was going to get married but I guess it never lived up to what we had and I'm sorry I fucked that up"
"I honestly don't really know what you expect me to do with this, like I said I accept your apology but I can't forgive you"
"I understand but can we maybe try and at least be friends" she asks.
"I'll think about it" I said after a few seconds.
"Okay"
"Look I best get home Callie and Sofia are waiting" I say standing up.
"Right yeah okay" Carina says standing up as well.
"See you around Arizona" she half smiles placing a hand on my arm before walking out the door.
I just stood there for a few seconds watching her walk away not really knowing how I feel about what just happened. Eventually I got my stuff and locked up and headed home, a little scared of what I'm going home too.
"Hey" I said as I walked in and see Callie sat on the sofa with Sofia watching tele.
"Hey" she replies with no smile or anything.
"Hey Sofia"
"Hi" she replies not taking her eyes off the tv. The only way to get her attention when she is watching tele is food. I find it quite funny.
"Have you eaten yet" I ask as I walked nearer Callie.
"Yeah, left you some in the microwave" she replies with the same tone as before.
"Thanks" with that I walked into the kitchen and heated up the lasagne she made. While it was cooking I poured myself a glass of wine. I know I really shouldn't but after today, I need one. Once the food was done I sat the table and started to eat. It was only then that I realised how hungry I actually was. A couple of minutes later Callie walked.
"I don't think so" she said angrily walking towards me, picking up my glass and chucking the contents down the sink.
"I was drinking that" I said rising my voice
"Not anymore"
"Why not" I say standing up.
"You have a drinking problem you shouldn't be drinking" she replies as she pours the rest of the bottle down the sink.
"You're the one with a problem"
"Excuse me" she said looking a little confused.
"Every since you saw Carina you've barely said two words to me or looked at me, then you leave without even a goodbye!" I said my voice getting louder.
"We're not doing this now" she said as she started to walk away but I grabbed her arm and pulled her back.
"Yes we are"
"FINE YOU WANT TO KNOW WHAT MY PROBLEM IS" she yells.
"YES"
"YOU ARE SO FUCKING STUPID! LETTING HER EVEN COME INTO THE CAFE, LET ALONE AGREE TO TALK, WHAT COULD SHE POSSIBLY HAVE TO SAY THAT WAS EVEN WORTH LISTENING TOO. LEXI WAS PISSED AS WELL YANO"
"YES I KNOW"
"THEN WHY ARIZONA, WHY AFTER EVERYTHING SHE DID TO YOU WOULD YOU GIVE HER THE TIME OF DAY. OR HAVE YOU FORGOTTEN"
"OF COURSE I HAVEN'T FORGOTTEN, YOU WEREN'T THERE, PLUS YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO SAYS THAT OR DID YOU FORGET WHAT YOU DID" I yell
"THATS NOT FAIR" she yells back as tears form in her eyes.
"Guys what the hell is going on in here" we both looked towards the door and see Lexi stood there. Anger and confusion clear on her face.
"Sofia is sat in there crying her eyes out" she said and without another word Callie ran out of the room leaving me with Lexi as tears spilled from my eyes.
