Callie's POV
It's been a month since the accident, and I'm still in hospital, but we are hoping that in the next week, I should be allowed home. Arizona has been here every single day. She only went back to work a couple of days ago, and that's because I made her. She rings me every morning before work and then comes straight here when she finishes. She's been beyond incredible, especially after what happened, but I've made a promise that I will make it up to her and make her be able to trust me again.
"Hey babe, I look up from my phone and see Arizona walking in. She walks over and gives me a peck on the cheek. This is all that's happened, I wish so much she would kiss me properly, but I don't want to push her. I'll take anything I can get. I mean, we haven't even talked about it.
"Hey," I smile back as I watch her take her coat off and sit on the chair next to me.
"How are you feeling?" she said, lacing her fingers with mine.
"As good as I can be,"
"How was work?" I asked
" Yeah, it was okay, Lexi let me leave early so I could get here sooner,"
"You dont have to do that,"
"I want to. There is no place I'd rather be," she grinned, making me smile.
"Arizona." I looked up and saw Sofia running in the room straight to Arizona.
"Hey you," Arizona laughs as she picks her up and places her onto her lap.
Sofia has really taken to Arizona, and it warms my heart. She is so good with her, and seeing her with Sofia makes me fall in love with her more.
"How are you feeling, Callie?" Mark asked as he pulled up another chair.
"Yeah, I'm ok." I half smile.
"How was nursery?" I asked Sofia, who was cuddled into Arizona.
"Good, I paint picture." She smiled before jumping in Arizona and running to her bag, which was on the floor next to Mark. She pulls out a piece of paper and comes to me and shows me.
"That me, that you and that Arizona," she beams, pointing to each stick figure on the paper. My heart melted. I looked up for a second and looked at Arizona, who was already looking at me with a little smile on her face. I couldn't help but smile too.
"aww that's beautiful," I say.
I can't help but imagine what it would be like to be a family with Arizona. It's all I've wanted since her a Sofia met. Every time I see them together, it fills me with such joy and happiness, I can't even begin to describe it. Now I know there is nothing I want more.
We sat there for a while just talking, Sofia had gone and sat back on Arizona's lap, and it wasn't long until she fell asleep. Mark left a while ago as he had work. We sat in silence for a while until I couldn't take it anymore. Ever since Sofia showed me the picture, I haven't stopped thinking about everything that happened, and I need to get it off my chest.
"Arizona, can we talk?" I whisper nervously.
"Okay," she replies hesitantly.
"I'm so sorry I never told you, I should have told you at the beginning, I was just scared that I would lose you and then it became to late to tell you and I'm so sorry, I hate myself for hurting you, I feel lost without you, I.." Before I could continue, Arizona spoke.
"Callie, can we just put it behind us? Yeah, it hurt so much, but I'm tired of hurting. When I saw the news about the crash and then saw you hooked up to all those machines, not knowing if you were going to wake up or not. It broke me, it made me realise that I can't be without you, I can't lose you."
"What are you saying?"
"I'm saying I love you, Callie, and I want us to be together again, only if you want to."
"Are you serious?"
"100%" This has turned out so much better than I thought. I couldn't help but smile.
"Okay," I grinned.
"Good."
"Could I have a kiss?" I asked shyly. I've waited too long for this. She didn't say anything, just giggled and made sure she didn't wake Sofia. She leaned over, and I did the same until our lips connected. My whole body became more alive, butterflies erupting in my stomach, electricity shooting all over my body. I can't believe I've gone this long without kissing her, especially when it feels this good.
"I love you," I say when we parted.
"I love you too," she smiled.
She leaned back gently and took my hand into hers, and we stayed like that for a while just watching tele. I kept looking at Arizona and Sofia and can't believe how lucky I am that my life is complete.
A while later my mum came and took Sofia home, me and Arizona were left alone. As much as I tried to get her to go so she could go home and sleep, she was adamant she was going to stay. I would be lying if I said I wasn't happy about that because I am. We decided to watch a film, and after a few minutes of begging, she caved in and let us watch Aladdin. About half way through, the doctor came in, which I wasn't happy about because it was on my favour bit.
"evening Callie," he smiled.
"evening Doctor Shepherd," I smiled back.
"How are we today?"
"I'm doing okay,"
"Good," she says while looking at my chart.
"Everything seems fine from this end, so if things stay like this, you can be home by the end of the week." I felt relief come over me. I've been stuck here far too long, and I miss my bed.
"That's great," Arizona beams. Her hand is still holding mine.
"we just have to make sure you will be able to manage at home, Will your husband be able to take time off work to take care of you?"
"erm." I suddenly felt a bit awkward.
"we are divorced," I say, I could feel Arizona's hand tighten a little around mine.
"Oh, sorry to hear that, but is there anyone else that will be able to take care of you?" I stayed silent. There isn't.
"Yeah, she's going to move in with me while she recovers, so I'll be able to look after her," Arizona speaks up. I couldn't speak, I just stared at her. She was looking at Dr Shepherd with a smile on her face.
"Brilliant, well, I'll pop by tomorrow and see how things are going." With that, he left. I was still staring at Arizona, shocked clearly evident on my face. She finally looked at me, her smile fading when she saw the expression on my face.
