I was sitting in my father, Dr. Wells' office. Well technically he's not my father, actually he's like a second father to me so I had to be here when the Particle Accelerator was turned on. I also helped build it, so I really had to be here.
I was sitting by the window reading Sense and Sensibility, trying to get my mind off of certain things or in my case a certain person when the door opened. I looked up when I heard the door open as in walked my adoptive father. "I'm sorry that I've been so busy." He said walking in.
I smiled and stood up. "It's fine. I would be too..." I told him giving him a hug.
He held me at arms length and looked me in the eye. "No it's not. You came all the way from Starling City to see me months ago and I haven't been around. Not to mention you helped me built the thing and also everything with Hartley..." He said sighing. "Either way you have my full attention right now."
I laughed. "Father, it's fine really, I've enjoyed helping you. Everything with Hartley... I'll deal with that later. So why don't we go and eat? Besides it doesn't look like you've sat down and eaten a good meal in awhile." I said looping my arm in his and dragging him out of his office.
I waved to Ronnie and Caitlin as I passed them; I dragged my father with me out the door and to food. After we ate and caught up we headed back, by then it was almost time to turn on the particle accelerator. I quickly changed into more professional clothing and made my way out.
I gave father a quick kiss on the cheek and a hug. "Good luck." I told him as I went into the crowd.
I stood in the crowd as I watched proudly as my adoptive father walked onto the stage. "My name is Harrison Wells." He said, I shook my head smiling I think everyone here knows that.
"Tonight, the future begins. The work my team and I will do here will change our understanding of physics. Will bring about advancements in power, advancements in medicine, and trust me that future will be here faster than you think." I mouthed the words he was saying, I helped him write parts of the speech after all.
The audience applauded as my father stepped off of the stage. I was among them as I followed him and the rest of the team out. I was offered to be up there as well, but really I just helped a little bit.
Really not much, I mostly distracted Hartley...
I walked in and everyone was smiling. "Dr. Wells, we just got the latest weather report. A big thunderstorm is rolling in." Cisco informed my father.
"We're not launching a space shuttle. We'll be fine." He said.
I stood next to him and wrapped my arms around him in a hug. "Are you excited?" I asked.
He smiled and kissed my head. "I am achieving my life-long dream with my closest family member. I think it is safe to say I am excited." He said.
"Dr. Wells, the accelerator is primed and ready for particle injection." Cisco said.
"Well, I feel I should say something profound like one small step for man, but all I can think of to say is, I feel like I've waited for this day for centuries." Father said as he stepped forward.
"Luci if you will?" He asked gesturing to the computer.
I nodded smiling. "On three?" I asked.
"One, two, three." Father counted off as we entered the code together. I stood next to him proudly as we heard a slight whirring as the machine came to life.
"That's it? You'd think there'd be, like, a loud bang." Cisco said.
"If there was a loud bang, we'd all be in big trouble." Ronnie said.
