Short on Time

Chapter 28

I was about to drop something off for Iris when I got a call from Barry, "Hi babe."

"Hi, Ginger..."

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"Nothing, why would something be wrong?"

"Barry, you have the sound in your voice when you're lying. Badly might I add."

"Can you and Joe just come down here?" Barry asked.

I sighed, "sure. We'll be there soon."

I knocked on the door and Joe came out, looking like he was about to go to work, "what's wrong?"

I laughed, "Barry said we need to go to Star Labs."

"Just when I thought I was good to go to work, like a normal cop," Joe said as we got into the car. 

"I don't think our lives will ever be normal," I said. Joe nodded in agreement as we quickly drove to Star labs and went up to the main room. However, when I walked in I was met with a surprise I didn't think I would ever see again.

Then right after that Joe fired at Dr. Harrison Wells. "Joe! Put the gun down!" Barry said as he ran to him.

"How is he still alive? How are you still alive?" Joe demanded as he tried to push past Barry to attack him. 

"I don't know because you missed?" Wells said.

"Hey, I'm trying to keep him from shooting you. You're not helping," Barry said making Wells look at him and then he saw me. 

His eyes widened in shock as he took a step forward to which I took a step back, "Luci?"

"Let's take a walk, all right?" Barry said as he grabbed my arm and dragged me out with Joe. 

"I know that this is a lot to take in, but that guy back in that room, that's not Wells," Barry said.

"Dr.McGee swore she saw Wells. He broke into Mercury Labs," Joe said.

"What?" Barry and I asked together.

"Why didn't you tell me this?" Barry asked.

"Because I didn't believe her. I didn't even want to consider Wells was alive. Eddie erased that Wells from existence," Joe said.

"This guy is he's someone else, and he says he's here to help us stop Zoom," Barry said.

"How can you even look at him? You think this is easy for me? The guy in there looks, moves sounds exactly like the guy that drove a knife through my mother's heart. I have to resist the urge to kill him. I'm trying my best to get past that, okay? You shotting him that's not helping," Barry said.

"After all our losses, I thought at least we were free of Wells. I just want one week where we're not surprised by somebody from our past," Joe said.

"You should go fill in Iris," I said softly. Joe nodded and left and Barry pulled me into a hug.

"It's not him, Ginger," he said reassuringly. 

I looked at him, "then why did he know my name?"

Barry didn't have an answer to that other than: "your doubleganger?" 

"I'm going to talk with... Wells. You should take Cisco out for something," I said walking away. 

"What about Caitlin?" 

"She went to go find Jay, figured he would know if Wells is really from Earth 2," I said. 

Barry kissed my forehead gently, "call me if you need anything."
