Chapter three: Gym

Kasalukuyan akong tumitingin ng gym na malapit, I need to regain my strength. Because I feel so weak right now. 

And I need to look tough and not act weak infront of him. 

Soon I will meet you, but I'm sure that I will defeat you. 

Marunong pa kaya ako humawak ng baril? Could I still fight like before? Umiling ako sa sarili kong iniisip, that's stupid, Ravenna. 

Bumangon ako sa pagkakahiga ko sa kama ko at nagpalit ng gym clothes. 

There is a gym 3 blocks away from here, I could just jog there so that I have cardio. 

Pagkarating ko sa gym I signed up for a membership card. 

Tinignan ako ng lalaking nagpro-process ng gym card ko ng nakakaloko. As if he is planning something. 

Kinuha niya ang landline at may idinial, "Koko ni on'nanoko ga imasu, kanojo wa sono ichi ni pittari ni miemasu." 

Bago niya ibaba ang telepono sumulyap pa ulit siya saakin bago ibigay ang card. 

Just like my training in the Philippines I did my routine in the gym equipments they have here. 

May papalapit saaking lalaki, pero di ko nalang siya tinignan, bahala siya sa buhay niya. 

"Hi miss." Sabi nito. 

Umiling ako bago luimingon sa kanya and faked a smile. 

Biglang may humawak saakin sa paa, pero mabilis ang reaction ko at nasipa ko ang mukha nito at nasikmuraan ko naman yung isa pang lalaki. 

"He's right, she's good for the position." Sabi nung isa bago tumawa. 

May inilabas ang lalaking gapos at inilagay niya ito sa magkabilang kamay ko. 

"You need to come with us, this is a special offer that I think will help you, or a job thet you won't say no to." The guy smirked before pulling me into the opposite direction. 

It is a door with a digit passcode. 

Inilagay niya ang digits at bumukas naman ito. Bumungad saamin ang hagdan pababa, at mayroon itong pulang ilaw na nakapalibot. 

Ang corny naman ng lugar. Hindi ba nila naisip na hindi naman ito nakaktakot for a girl like me, baka umurong pa ang mga sikmura nila kapag nakita nila ako.

This is an underground place, with lots and lots of men and women with tattoos and piercings. 

"Ooh, what do we have here?" May isang babaeng lumapit saakin at inamoy ako bigla. 

"She smells really good, which country did you find this specimen?" Tanong ng babae sa lalaking nagdala sa akin dito. 

What even is this place? Underground transactions? Illegal dealings? Whatever it is, I'm thrilled. 

"Dude, don't be such a dickhead and remove her cuffs." Sabi ng babae. 

Nang tanggalin ang gapos ko, inilahad ng babae ang kamay niya sa harap ko. 

"Hi, my name is Saya. And you are?" 

Inisip ko kung ano ang isasagot ko, first or second name? "Vesper." Ngumiti ako sa kanya. 

"Shut up, Ravenna Vesper Hendrix. Daughter of the one and only Hendrix. What brings you here in Japan?" 

Kilala niya ako. 

"Never thought that my name will still be known here in Japan." Sabi ko. 

"You know what, let's talk later after you change your clothes. You smell good and all but you have sweat all over you. Come with me, I'll lend you some clothes." Hinila ako ni Saya papunta sa isang kwarto. 

"Assuming that you speak tagalog?" Tanong ko sa kanya. 

"I know a little, but I preffer to speak in english." Sagot niya. 

"Ano tong lugar na to?" Tanong ko. 

"This is an underground place, where agents are tasked to do something." 

"So you are an agent?" 

"Basically, yeah." 

I changed my clothes in front of her, I don't really care. Besides all you can see is red. 

"Sobrang laki naman ng underground na ito." Sabi ko while observing the other rooms. "Bakit nga pala ako dinala dito ng mga kaibigan mo?" 

"You know the man that gave you that membership card?" Tanong niya at tumango naman ako. Inilabas ko yung card at ipinakita sa kanya. 


Kinuha niya yun at may pinunit sa card. 

Takang kinuha ko yon at tinignan. 

Agent Hendrix. Age: 20. Height: 5'7. Partner of Agent Okazaki. 

"What does this mean?" 

"Simple, Vesper. You are now one of us, and also has a higher position than me and those two douchebags." 

Umupo ako sa sahig at hinawakan ang ulo ko. Wow instant noodles lang ang naganap? I don't even know who is running this place.

"Hindi yun pwede mangyari, I mean. Paano yon nangyari?" Tanong ko sa sarili ko. 

Inalalayan ako patayo ni Saya at hinila palabas ng karto. Bumalik kami sa crowd at ayon, they were all bowing in front of me. 

Lumapit saakin ang dalawang lalaki kanina. 

"We haven't formally introduced ourselves. hi I am Jesse!" Sabi niya at inilahad ang kamay sa harap ko. 

"Maverick." 

"Hi." Sagot ko. 

"You need to meet your partner." Sabi ni Saya at sinamahan ako papunta sa isang malaking pintuan. 

"You have to put your fingerprint here, so that bit will be easy for you to open this room." 

Sinunod ko naman ang sinabi niya at inilagay ang thumb ko doon sa fingerprint scanner. 

Tumunog ang speaker. "Access granted, welcome agent Hendrix." 

Alam na ako agad nung speaker? Wow, that's way faster than me making friends. Tinulak na ako papasok ng pintuan at agad naman sumara ang pinto. 

This room has two desks, one of the front and one of the right, the man or women behind the swivel chair would be my partner.

Humarap na ang taong nakaupo doon at nang magtama ang paningin namin parehas nanlaki ang mga mata namin. 


"Vesper?!"


"Enzo?!"

Sabay naming sigaw. 

"What the fuck are you doing here?" Sigaw niya at lumapit sa akin. 


"I might ask the same to you, what the hell are you doing here?" 

"Really, Vesper? After 3 years you're going back to me?" He smirked. 

"You can dream all you want, but that will never happen. This wasn't even my plan, I was just doing my work out in the gym upstairs when suddenly, Maverick and Jesse pulled me here. And then Saya ripped my gym membership card only to find out that you are my partner." I scoffed. 


"Is this even a coincidence? Or does destiny wants us to reunite?" He smiled again and stepped towards me. He brushed my hair.

Tinabig ko ang kamay niya, "It's nothing, I'm not gonna accept the position." Akmang aalis na dapat ako ng kwarto pero hinila niya ako pabalik sa kanya. 

"I'm sorry darling, but you already signed everything. Welcome to the game, Vesper."
