- Lola's POV -
We were all sitting around the huge dining table in our party hats and glittery dresses. This is something we do a lot.
"Happy birthday Hazel!" We all shouted at the same time while Hazel blew out her birthday candles. Everyone else in the restaurant looked over at us as if we were aliens.
It was Hazels birthday today so we decided to go out for a fancy dinner. Me, Hazel, Ruby and Lilah. It seemed like a good idea a few days ago, but now I'm not so sure.
Ruby and Lilah had a bit too much drink in them to be sitting in a posh restaurant surrounded by snobby rich people.
I glanced over at Ruby and Lilah shouting across the table at each other and laughing uncontrollably. Then to Hazel who had her face lost inside her birthday cake. Sometimes I actually feel normal around my friends.
After a while we all decided to leave the restaurant. Ruby and Hazel live together in an apartment not far from town so they both got a taxi home and left me and Lilah wondering the town streets in our huge heels. It was late at night and I felt slightly anxious at the idea of being lost in dark alley ways.
Lilah was very drunk. I was basically carrying her along while trying to walk in my own shoes that barely fit my small feet.
I saw Lilah as my best friend, we have gone through a lot together. We met when I was 16 and she was 15. I was sitting alone in the park listening to music and she decided to join me, our friendship grew from that moment and 3 years later we are basically sisters.
Lilah stumbled into a wall and I grabbed onto her by the shoulders, she laughed loudly and peeked around the corner.
"Hey look theres a bar! Let's go!" She shouted while pointing across the empty road. I pulled her back before she began to walk towards it.
"Don't you think that you have had enough to drink today?" I said with a blank expression. She rolled her eyes and giggled.
"Lola you need to lighten up. I know you hate drinking but at least let me have another glass" Lilah mumbled while walking over to the bar, I sighed loudly and followed her.
As soon as we walked into the bar it had a friendly feeling to it. There were lots of people talking and having a good time. Lilah went straight for the bar while I glanced around the walls at the black and white photos of people from the 60's.
I looked across the room to see Lilah stumbling over to a corner sofa then waving me over. I kept my head down as I squeezed through all the men who were standing around the bar and quickly sat down in front of her.
"It's really crowded in here" I mumbled while taking off my coat and setting it on the chair beside me. Lilah wasn't listening to a word I was saying, she was chugging down the beer which she bought.
"You're going to be a wreck in the morning" I complained while glancing over at her. She shrugged her shoulders before shouting across the room.
"Hey can I have another beer?!"
I suddenly felt angry. I know Lilah is trying to have a good time but our little birthday party for Hazel is over and we should be going home now, not sitting in a strange bar in town at 12:30am.
"Lilah can we please leave now?" I whispered across the table, she squinted her eyes at me.
"I need another drink Lola!" She shouted in a high pitched tone. I sighed loudly and got up from my seat, looking for the ladies bathroom.
