- Lola's POV -
I really didn't like being around Callum by myself, everything was so awkward.
It was slowly approaching 6:00pm now and the sun was setting. I sighed sadly while looking around the garden.
"What's the matter?" Callum asked with a smile. You are the matter! I need to see Joseph!
"Oh nothing" I muttered. Suddenly my mum appeared from the back door, she was carrying a tray of sandwiches for us.
"What an amazing dinner" I said sarcastically while taking a ham sandwich from the tray. She squinted her eyes at me before walking away again.
More silence passed, I really had enough of this.
"Look Callum, I get that you want to spend time with me or something but I really need to go" I blurted out rudely before standing up from the bench.
"Where are you off to?" He asked. I took a deep breath in, trying not to strangle this boy.
"It doesn't matter!" I shouted in frustration as I turned around and walked back to the house. I marched right passed my mum not caring what she was trying to say. I ran up to my bedroom, grabbed my bag and phone then ran back down again.
"Lola where are you going?! Callum is here!" Mum shouted while grabbing me by the wrist.
"I need to go out. I had plans before this but you didn't respect that. I don't even like him by the way" I said angrily. I snatched my arm away from her and stormed out before grabbing my phone from my pocket and calling Lilah.
"Hey Lils, are you with Dave? I need a lift" I said when she picked up.
"Yeah! We'll come right now"
I smiled and waited outside my house. Dave's car pulled up and I went to get in the back seat.
"Lola wait!" I heard a snobby voice shout behind me but I proceeded to get into the car.
"Hey Lo that kid is talking to you" Lilah said while pointing out the window.
"Just drive" I demanded. They could tell I was in a bad mood. I told Lilah about how my mum thinks me and Callum are a perfect couple, she almost gagged at the thought of her mum choosing a boyfriend for her.
They dropped me off at The Black Swan and waited outside. I told them I would only be a minute because I would need to go back home and explain myself.
Once again I was outside the bar taking a deep breath in, I was about to enter when a posh voice called me.
"Lola!"
It was Joseph. He was over at the huge recycling bins beside the bar.
"Hey" I said shyly, Lilah and Dave could see everything that was happening from the car. So I felt even more embarrassed.
"I thought you weren't going to come back today" He said sadly, I laughed.
"I never break promises" I whispered reassuringly. He nodded.
"What're you doing standing out in the cold?" I asked as I rubbed my goose pimpled arms. He noticed that I was shaking and pulled off his hoodie.
"Here, put this on. It'll keep you warm" He said before giving me his green hoodie. I put it on and automatically felt warmer, it was so big.
Joseph giggled at the size of the hoodie on me.
"What? It's not my fault I'm tiny!" I shouted as I struggled to find my hands in the huge baggy sleeves. He continued to laugh at me.
"You're so cute" He mumbled, then he went completely silent and his face went bright red. I stared at him with a smile on my face.
"Thanks. You are very cute too" I replied loudly. He rolled his eyes.
"Joseph where the hell are you! I've got more rubbish for you to take out!" Someone shouted from the back door of the bar. Joseph sighed loudly and pulled me in for another huge hug.
"I gotta go. I'll see you again?" He said while literally lifting me off my feet. I nodded as soon as we stopped hugging, then he went back inside.
I turned to face Dave's car where Lilah was staring out the front window in shock. I shrugged my shoulders and blushed at her.
