Chapter 01

"How's your first day of school, Lianna?" we were in the dining area, having our dinner. I looked at Mommy and smiled.

"Good?" I hesitantly asked. Honestly, I have nothing to say except that they  are all weird. They looking at me like I am a criminal or what!

Mommy nodded.

"Well, it's okay, darling. It's still your first day of school. Have you found a new friend na?"

"Uhh... not yet?" again, I lowered my head.

"Uh-oh, baka nagsusungit ka naman sa kanila?" Mommy teased. Sungit? I quickly shook my head defensively.

"I'm not, Mommy! Of course, I am still shy. It's my first day of school here in Philippines." she nodded in response.

"And actually... there's something with them." I mumbled.

"What?"

"I mean... they're looking at me like... I did something wrong? They have the same responses when they saw me! They were all shocked and they kept on looking at me!"

Daddy and Mommy chuckled.

"That's normal, hija. You're a transferee, you're new to their eyes..."

"At maganda ka rin... baka they like you? Boys ba?" Daddy joined in teasing me. My face blushed and shook my head again.

"It's okay. Mawawala rin 'yan sa mga susunod na araw kapag nakilala mo na lahat. Make some friends ha? So that you'll not become lonely."

Again, I just nodded as a response though I don't think I can do it unless they will approach me first. I am not type of girl who will do the first move in making friends. I am not even good in initiating conversation. I am not that snob, okay? I just feel uncomfortable with strangers.

The next day, I went to school very early. One thing that I really hate the most is being late. I was the first one who's in our room. I waited for minutes for the next student to come in. It was a girl. She was shocked when she saw me. She is looking at me while going to her chair. Weird.

I looked away because I am starting to get annoyed again. I don't know if it's their culture to stare at someone like this but I hate it! It's not my thing and I will never get used to it!

I focused my eyes on my notebook. I started scribbling something just to divert my attention. After a while, the girl approached me.

"Hi!" there's bit hesitation in her eyes but she managed to give me a warm smile. I smiled quickly.

"Hi."

"I'm Kate. Lianna, right?" I blinked twice and quickly realized that I introduced myself yesterday so that's why she knew my name.
