Chapter 8

I stared at the photo for too long. Khiel didn't notice it, he is still busy buying our food.

The girl looks like... me?

I don't know if it's just me but the girl in the photo looks like me. However, the girl has a short hair while I have a long hair. She is in the same uniform as ours. I haven't seen this girl yet. Did she transfer or what? Who is she?

"Here's your food, Lianna." I blinked twice and startled a bit when I heard Khiel's voice. I looked up on him and saw that he is now looking at the photo in my hand.

I saw anger and pain in his eyes. My lips parted. Bahagya akong nakaramdam ng kaba at takot sa paraan ng pagtitig niya sa picture.

"S-sorry... N-nahulog kasi." I stammered.

With a shaky hand, I gave it to him. However, he just stared at it for too long.

"H-hindi ba sa iyo?" tanong ko pero sigurado naman akong sa kanya iyon kasi nakita kong nahulog sa wallet niya.

"Sa akin." Finally, he gets it from my hand and immediately put it back on his wallet.

I don't know but the atmosphere between us after that became pretty awkward. Nakasunod lang ako sa kanya habang patuloy lang siya sa paglalakad. I don't know where we are going.

"Hey..." I called him.

He stopped. He turned to me and smiled a bit.

"Where are we going?" I asked. I bit my lower lip and played with my hands which is at the back.

"Let's find a quiet place and then we'll eat this. Uuwi rin tayo pagkatapos natin makapagmeryenda."

"Oh. I see." Siya na rin kasi ang naghawak ng mga makakain namin.

Again, another silence enveloped between us even after we found a place for us to rest for a bit.

The silence is very suffocating actually. Tahimik din naman kami kapag nagsasama kami pero hindi ganito. It is very, very suffocating.

"Uhm... are you okay?" I gently asked though I think it's a bad move. I knew Khiel. He prefers being silent when he's mad or annoyed. Wait... bakit naman kasi siya magagalit? Wala naman akong ginagawa ah?

"Uh-huh." he mumbled without looking at me. My face heated because of a bit embarrassment. Feeling ko kasi... ayaw niya akong kausapin. Just like what I've said, I hate being rejected. Sabihin niyo na akong OA pero konting pakita mo lang na ayaw mo akong kausapin, I will consider that already as rejection... and I hate it.

"She's Wendy." Finally, he spoke after minutes of being silent.
