Zach's P.O.V.

One of Lily and Ashton's dads showed up to practice on Monday.

"Both your kids are really great.", I said as the boys started on drills. Lily was ten minutes late.

"Both my kids?", Alan questioned, "Like, Abby? Or Lily?"

"Lily. She's really-" Ashton frantically gestured at me to not say anything from behind Alan, "-Uh, she-she's just a really sweet kid."

"How would you know?"

"Well she comes to practice sometimes. Normally she just works on homework or helps me coach."

"Well-" Lily bolted out of the school and across the field to us,

"I'm here! I- Dad! H-Hey! What uh- What are you doing here?"

"Watching your brothers team. I-I just wanna make sure it's safe."

"It's very safe.", I assured.

"Does papi know you're here?"

"He... doesn't need to know." She smirked,

"Then... we don't need to revisit last night's fight either, right?"

"Fine. But you'd better never fight with your siblings like that again, got me?" She nodded,

"Got it." She turned to me, "You're a man down. Can I fill in today?'"

"Sure. Someone needs to teach them how to play anyways."

"Uh... honey I don't know about-"

"Ashton makes sure I don't get hurt. Promise.", she cut off Alan before running off.

"I hope this isn't a regular thing.", he said to me.

"Only when we're down a man and she begs me. She's really good though. Like, she could easily make varsity to be honest."

"She wanted to tryout but we wouldn't let her. Ashton begged for months before we finally caved. It's just too dangerous for a girl."

"I have three boys and one girl. She changes how I evaluate every situation. If she wanted to fill in one day like Lily does, I'd let her. If I wouldn't let my girl do something, I won't let yours."

"Well that's a little comforting."

"Ashton mentioned you're concerned about the team doing steroids?"

"I... just remember how sports worked back in high school. I just don't want Ashton getting mixed up in that stuff."

"I understand that. But I can promise you, nothing like that is happening on my team. I drug test the boys every week. And the quarterback is kinda the role model of the team, another reason I chose Ashton. He gets good grades, he's respectful and responsible and I really want the rest of the team to follow him. You've raised him well." He sighed, sitting on the bench,

"My best friend was pregnant with Lily when we adopted Ashton. He was four years of pain and rejection and it showed. he was mean and hateful and honestly dangerous. His social worker said no one had ever kept him longer than a month. We had him for six months before he started to show some progress. No one could see that he was just a broken kid who needed love and a real family. Lily was born the day after his fifth birthday and the second he held her, he completely changed. he was the only one who could ever get her to stop crying as a baby. He's always been right next to her, protecting her. They're inseparable."

"He's a really good kid."

"Who? Ashton?", Ashera asked walking over. I nodded,

"Yeah. Alan, this is my daughter Ashera."

"Hi.", she said sitting next to me. Adam smiled,

"Lily's brought you up a few times."

"As a friend or an enemy?", she laughed nervously.

"A friend."

"Good."

After practice, Ashera and I pulled into the driveway right behind Dylan and Grayson. We all got out as Dylan froze,

"What the fuck?" I followed his gaze to the house, finding 'WHORE' across the front in red paint.

"Oh my god.", Ashera whispered.

"Ashera what do you know about this?", I demanded.

"I-I didn't think it'd go this far." I sighed,

"Obviously we need to chat. Boys-"

"We got it dad.", Grayson said.

"Thanks guys. Ash let's go." We went into the kitchen as shse sighed,

"I-I did a bad thing a long time ago and now it's coming back to bite me."

"What'd you do love?"

"I-I sent pictures to Trey. Of-Of me..."

"You what!?"

"I-I-"

"No, I fucking heard you. Why? Why would you ever do something like that Ashera!?"

"I just-"

"No. It doesn't even matter! I-I can't believe you!"

"I'm sorry-"

"It doesn't matter! It doesn't matter if you're sorry Ashera! Those are out there forever!" I sighed, "I-I can't even look at you right now let alone punish you. I need you tot go to your brother's tonight. I'll have him deal with you."

"Fine."

Grayson's P.O.V.

Dad came outside angrily as Dylan and I finished cleaning the house off,

"You need to take your sister tonight. She'll tell you what she did and I need you to handle it because right now, I could fucking kill her."

"You should.", Ashera muttered coming outside. I walked over and gently pulled her away from dad,

"Nobody is killing you Ash. I have a meeting but I'll have Dylan take her home and we'll talk later."

"Fine.", he snapped.

My meeting was with my boss's, boss's daughter. She was 5'4"of gorgeous distaster at the moment. Her dad died yesterday.

"Mr. Taylor.", Gabriella greeted me as she came into the office. her shiny red hair cascaded down her black dress, following the line of her curvy body. Her normal bright blue eyes were dull and gray.

"Grayson, please."

"Ella." I nodded,

"We really don't need to do this-"

"I need to Grayson. I need business to be done with so I can grieve."

"Alright. Then I won't waste your time." We sat across from each other, me at my desk, "You said in your message that your dad left something for me? Why me?" She smiled softly,

"Daddy loved you. He referred to you as the son he never had. You were in his will before I was."

"Your dad was an amazing man. He owned so many companies and still knew every one of his employees by name. But, what would he leave me?"

"His companies."

"Wait, what?"

"I hate business. He knew that. He also knew I've wanted to work with animals my entire life. He bought out an animal sanctuary and left it to me, everything else goes to the only other person he could trust; you. Mom died when I was six, so it's always just been me and daddy. He really did consider you one of his own."

"That really does mean so, so much to me Ella. If there's anything you need, please let me know."

"A lot of people have said that to me in twenty-four hours. You're really the only one I believe. And there... kinda is something. But it-it's big-"

"Hey, I said anything, didn't I?" She smiled,

"I-I could really use some help going through his office tonight."

"Let's go."
