Maverick's P.O.V.

"It was not because of you. All of us were stressed and needed a break. I-I'd like it if you came back with me.", I said softly.

"They're not my family."

"That's because you won't let them be. They absolutely consider you family Mason. Mia asks about you all the time."

"She does?" I nodded as he looked to dad, "Do you want me to go? I-I know I've been on your nerves lately."

"It's up to you kid.", dad ignored the last part.

"O-Okay."

"Mase are you hurting yourself?", I asked softly.

"No."

"Are you throwing up again?", dad asked.

"O-Only sometimes."

"When you eat?", I clarified. He paused,

"Y-Yeah."

"Mason-"

"I-I'm sorry.", he whispered shakily as dad rubbed his hand over his face.

"C'mere kid.", I said softly. He shuffled over, falling next to me in tears,

"I-I-I don't wanna di-die like your m-mom!" Kaden told everyone mom was sick, but never said how. She basically starved herself to death.

"Mason we're not gonna let that happen kiddo. I promise." I hugged him tightly as he cried, stopping when there was a knock at the door.

"I got it.", dad said softly, walking off. I heard him open it and our neighbor Ashley speaking frantically before the door closed. Dad came back in with her foster daughter, Kitalina, out cold in his arms. He laid the teenager on the couch, sighing, "I... don't think she's coming back."

Dad called in every favor he'd racked up since he moved to this town at nineteen, just so he could adopt Kit. On the two hour drive back from the courthouse, Mason and Kit fell asleep in the backseat.

"K-Dad asked me to move in.", I said softly, "He says the house is too quiet with just them there and they bicker too much with just the two of them. I said I'd ask."

"I-I mean I guess if that's what you want kid."

"Mason wants to too. And nothing's really holding us here."

"Oh. O-Okay."

"What is it?"

"I-I just- I'm sorry I fucked up so bad you guys want to leave."

"What?", I laughed, "Dad you're coming with us."

"What?"

"You think we'd just leave you like that? I-I love K-Dad but I can't just up and abandon this family for another."

"Thank god.", he laughed a little, glancing back at the kids, "Do you think it's too soon for her?"

"She wants a fresh start. She told us that. And me and Mason wanna be somewhere where people know Kat as our sister, not the adopted kid."

"Me too."

"And we think Mia and Mason would bother feel more like part of both families if we were all just one family. All together."

"Okay. I'm in."

Max's P.O.V.

Living with Kaden and Mia was a really healthy thing for all the kids. A two hour drive felt like a whole new world for them and I think we were all happy to call it home. About two weeks after moving, Mason had made some good friends and asked to have a sleepover. I could hear the boys laughing and talking late into the night from the basement, but I could care less as long as he's happy. The next morning, I went down to wake the boys as Mason was shoving things into a trash bag.
