Kaden's P.O.V.

Mia sat between Dimitri and I on the couch as we ate Chinese take out for dinner.

"Hey, I'm gonna get an emergency phone for the house.", I said softly, "It'll have any numbers you need and it should only ever be used in an emergency situation. As long as it's used for it's intended purpose, you'll never be in trouble for using it in what you feel is an emergency. I'm gonna give you back your phone because you've been good and we've had a long day, but you won't always have access to it and you should have a way to contact someone here if you need to." She nodded,

"That'd be great. Thanks daddy."

"Mhm."

"Are you okay?" I nodded, laying my head on top of hers,

"Yeah, I'm alright love. Just a long day."

"I'm sorry he said those things."

"You heard?"

"Floors are thin." I nodded a little, sitting up,

"Listen love, he did some bad things in my life but I wasn't the best kid-"

"Stop. Don't finish that sentence if it's defending him.", Dimitri said sternly.

"W-Where did he send you?", Mia asked.

"Love your dad's had a long day, maybe we talk about this another time?" I shook my head,

"No, I-I want everything out there so we can move past it.", I paused, "When I was twelve, dad caught me kissing some boy down the street. He lost it. He shipped me off to this weird camp somewhere for six months. They barely fed us or gave us water, so we were sick a lot and we were constantly moving around. We were in some mountain range and basically it was a survival camp but all of us were between ten and sixteen and knew nothing. Three kids got really sick and never came back. I still don't know if they even left alive. There were four like... counselor people... and then a main couple who like ran the whole thing. Everyone there molested all of us for six months. They said it'd reverse what we felt and get rid of the gay or some shit. Clearly, that's bullshit. Mom died a few months before he sent me and when I got back, I knew there was absolutely no fixing our relationship. And I'm okay with that now. I have an incredible family, no thanks to him."

"Yeah, you do. I hate him."

"Me too kid. You're not allowed to hate anyone though."

"Just him." She paused, looking to Dimitri, "What about your parents?"

"They're great. They really wanna meet you guys."

"Invite them. We'd love that.", I said softly. He nodded,

"I will. I think you guys will like them."

~~~~
"Runs in the family, right?", Damien laughed as I shook the hands of Dimitri's parents, Jake and Zayn.
"Damien!", I scolded a little. Dimitri rolled his eyes,
"He's made the same joke for three years."
"I think it's hilarious.", Jake commented, hugging Damien, "How ya been kid?"
"Alright."
"Keeping our boy in line?" He laughed a little as Dimitri bit his tongue, smirking,
"Yeah Dame, keeping me in line?"
"Something like that.", Damien laughed. Mia ran in the back door, only to freeze,
"Sorry. Hi, I'm Mia." Zayn laughed, shaking her hand,
"Zayn. That's my husband Jake."
"Nice to meet you. No offense but... who are you guys?"
"Mia these are my dads.", Dimitri explained. Her eyes widened,
"Oh! Hi!"
"Runs in the family, right?", Damien said again. Dimitri rolled his eyes again too,
"Is it ever gonna get old?"
"Nope."
"Can I go on a date tonight?"
"With Chase?", I asked.
"No, a girl date. Not a date just like, a fake date kinda."
"You're not going anywhere until you elaborate."
"Okay so my friend Sasha-"
"Mia I'm not a huge fan of Sasha."
"I know but can I please just talk?"
"You're right, I'm sorry. Go on."
"So Sasha thinks her boyfriend is cheating on her and saw on his phone that he has plans with some girl tonight at a restaurant then the fair so she asked me to go on a fake date with her to help stalk and figure out what's going on." I thought for a second,
"So this restaurant you will be telling me and to the fair? That's it?" She nodded. "You'll keep your location on all night and text me every hour."
"Okay." She paused, "I thought you trusted me though."
"I do. I don't trust Sasha or any boyfriend she'd have."
"Okay."
"But we do have company."
"Oh we'll be in town for a week or so looking for a house.", Jake cut in. Dammit.
"Great! So I can go?", Mia asked again. I sighed,
"Fine. You can go."
"Home by eight thirty.", Dimitri said.
"Mitri.", she whined, "The fair doesn't even start until eight!" He glanced at me before sighing,
"Fine. Nine at the latest. If you don't send your dad hourly updates, you'll be in for it."
"Got it. I will."
~~~~

"Daddy?"

"Hey baby, how's it going?", I asked over the phone.

"Not... great. Um, could-could you or Mitri come get me?"

"Sure. We'll be right there. From where?"

"The-The police station."

~~~~
When Dimitri, Damien, Zayn, Jake and I rushed into the station, I didn't expect to find Mia curled up in a chair, soaking wet and wrapped in a heating blanket.
"Holy shit what happened?", I asked, crouching in front of her. She hugged me tightly,
"It-It was a-a trap.", she shivered, "They-They wanted to go out on this-this boat by the dock and I-I said no because I didn't t-tell you that and I h-hate boats but Sasha convinced me and-and I tried to text you but she took my phone. We-We went out in the ocean and I-I couldn't even see the fair lights on the dock and they pushed me in. Coast guard found me."
"I'm so happy you're okay. You're never leaving my sight again."
"That's fine.", she laughed I little, "I told Chase I'm never going on a date that isn't with him again. Or anywhere without him at this point."
"Good. I'll handle this, okay?"
"Okay."
"Mitri will you take them home while I talk to the cops?" He nodded as Damien stepped aside,
"I'll stay with you."
"Me or my dads will come get you guys in an hour.", Dimitri said helping Mia up.
"Thank you. Mia, be good."
"I-I will." Dimitri wrapped his jacket around her and the blanket as him and his dads led her out.
"What are you gonna do?", Damien asked.
"Try not to kill someone."
