Kaden's P.O.V.

Ashton and Zach limped through practice the next day, as did most of the others. Anyone who was involved or who knew and didn't tell me or another adult was running laps. Three oblivious freshman got to leave early and Jaxx had asked me to talk. That was almost ten minutes ago and he had yet to say a word.

"Jaxx-"

"I-I should be running with them.", he cut me off softly.

"You've already learned your lesson kid. You're welcomed to go run if you want, but I'd like to know what you wanted to talk about." He sighed,

"I-I um- This-This is none of my business and y-you don't have to answer it but-but-"

"Jaxx, calm down kid.", I laughed a little, "You guys can ask me anything and I'll likely answer. You know that kiddo." He nodded a little,

"Did-Did Mia's mom really- um- kill- Um-"

"Kill herself?" He nodded a little. "Basically, yeah. But Mia doesn't really know that kind of details, so don't mention it to her, okay?"

"No, I-I wouldn't."

"Thank you. Why do you ask?" He looked away,

"When my dad adopted me, I-I stole the file my social worker gave him. I wanted to see if there was anything on my dad." Jaxx's mom died giving birth.

"And?", I pressed softly.

"He-He killed himself when I was eight."

"I'm sorry Jaxx." I paused, "Maria was my one and only. Even separated, I loved her more than anything."

"Are-Are you mad at her for it?"

"Mad? No. I'm still upset with her in a way though. I wish she would have just talked to me. Or anyone. But I also wish I had asked or checked in on her more than I did."

"It's not your fault though."

"No, I know. I just- I have my regrets." I paused, "Have you felt like that?" He nodded a little,

"I-I thought it was the drugs but now I think it might be him. Depression can be genetic." I nodded,

"It can be, yeah. But it's probably a mix of both honestly." I paused, "Promise me you'll call if you ever start thinking about it?" He nodded,

"I promise."

"Have you hurt yourself?" He messed with his sleeves a little,

"A-A few times. Not enough for dad to like... p-punish me... just enough for us to talk a lot and me not really listen."

"You need to listen kid. He wants to help you and so do I. Why'd you hurt yourself in the first place?"

"Getting clean is a lot harder than I thought and I-I just feel like the people I call family are gonna give me back."

"They won't though. Liam doesn't give up on people and they really, really love you. And I am so, so fucking proud of you for getting clean Jaxx. And so is Liam."

"I promised them and you I'd get clean and stay clean."

"I know. You're doing a really good job. You-"

"Ashton!", Zach yelled, getting our attention as we both looked up to see Ashton collapse in the grass. Jaxx and I ran over as Zach sat by him, trying to calm him down, "It's okay. It's okay Ash."

"Hey, calm down kiddo.", I said sitting next to them as Braxton handed me a bottle of water. "Deep breaths Ashton. Drink this.", I said giving it to him. I helped him hold it since his hands were shaking too much as Zach stood up,

"I-I'm gonna call Asher."

"N-No!", Ashton choked out through his tears, "He-He's already m-mad and-and-"

"Okay stop. No one's gonna call him kid. Just try to breathe."

"Can-Can I call dad?", Zach asked. Ashton nodded a little as he left to do so, taking the rest of the boys to the locker room. Ashton and I sat on the grass in the cold fall air as he did his best to take deep breaths.

"You're okay. Everything's fine kid.", I said softly. Once he could mostly breathe again, I rubbed his shaky hands gently, "Can you feel your hands?"

"N-No."

"Okay, hey, look at me." He did so. "I want you to find five things you can see." He swallowed hard, looking around a little,

"Um, the-the sun, and-and a bird, and grass, a-and the football, and y-you."

"Good job. Four things you can hear."

"Birds, the-the guys, car, my heartbeat."

"Three things you can touch."

"Grass, the track, you."

"Two things you can smell."

"Cold, cologne."

"One thing you're feeling." He took a deep breath, nodding a little,

"Calm."

"Can you feel your hands now?" He nodded. "Good. Drink more water. We're just gonna sit here for a minute, okay?"

"Okay." It wasn't long before Zayn was running over to us on the field,

"Ash are you okay? Did you get hit? Are you hurt?"

"I-I'm fine I just- I'm just scared.", he whispered as Zayn sat with us. He gently pushed Ashton's hair from his face,

"Of what baby?"

"D-Dad."

Mason's P.O.V.

I knocked on the big blue door, trying to steady my breathing.

"Cameron!", I heard someone yell.

"Coming!", someone responded as the door opened.

"H-Hi.", I choked out.

"Mason?", the man asked. I nodded,

"Y-Yes sir."

"I'm Cameron.", he said shaking my hand, "And you can refer to me as such. I'm only twenty five." I nodded a little. "Is that your dad?", he asked softly. I glanced back to the street, where dad stood outside of the car,

"Yeah." I zoned out a little as I was led into the house and someone crouched in front of me. Dad.

"I-I wanna go home.", I whispered, clinging to him. He nodded,

"I-I know baby. I'm sorry but I can't get you out of this one. Just be good and you can come home soon, okay?" I nodded. "I love you so, so much."

"I love you too." He stood up, kissing my head before walking out.

"You seem like a good kid.", another man commented walking in.

"I-I just screw up a lot.", I whispered.

"I'm Alex." He had Cameron's green eyes and brown hair, but it was clear they weren't related.

"Mason." A small boy and a dog ran in before the boy froze,

"I-I'm sorry. I forgot.", he whispered.

"It's okay kiddo. C'mere.", Cameron said, "Miles, Mason, Mason, Miles."
