Grayson's P.O.V.

"Dad?"

"What's up kid?", I asked Luke over the phone.

"Could you maybe go get Starr? The school won't send her home but she called me sobbing because of cramps."

"Yeah, of course. But why can't you?" He hesitated,

"I-I'm really sick. I-I think it's just withdrawal but I can't really go anywhere right now. I just keep throwing up and having like, anxiety attacks. I definitely can't drive so I've just been working on my finals."

"Good idea kiddo. You're really close."

"I know. The dean said if I take my last final on campus, I can actually graduate. Like walk across the stage and everything."

"Luke that's fantastic! I'm so proud of you kid."

"Thanks dad."

"Daddy?" I rolled over in bed, the moonlight coming in through the window to light up Starr's face,

"What's wrong baby?"

"I-I'm really sorry about earlier. I didn't feel good and-and now I feel sick and guilty."

"Don't feel guilty baby. It's okay, I forgive you." I moved over a little, "Lay down. You'll feel better with some company."

"Thanks. I love you.", she yawned, laying down. I held her tightly,

"I love you too baby."

I tapped my foot impatiently as I stood in the office lobby. Kayla had missed a short meeting that I really needed her for and I was not happy.

"Rose how mad is he?", I heard Kayla ask my secretary. I turned around,

"Mad enough to come down here.", my voice echoed slightly in the open space. Kayla slowly shuffled over to me, her face pale and her eyes on the floor. "Forty two minutes.", I said lowly, "And we both know you can't afford to lose forty two dollars from your paycheck Kayla. Let's go."

"Yes sir." She slowly followed me to the elevator, which was all too silent. As we got closer to the fifteenth floor, she laid her hand on her stomach, "It's gonna be okay. Everything's okay.", she whispered to either herself or the baby. Maybe both.

"Sit.", I said as we walked into my office. She did so, keeping her hands on her stomach protectively. "Kayla I really needed you this morning. I know you struggle to see how important you are sometimes but my meeting was a complete shit show without you."

"I'm really, really sorry."

"I'm sure." I sighed a little, "Bend over the desk."

"But-But the baby-"

"Hands on the desk, then bend over. Don't lay your stomach on anything and you'll be fine, I promise." She hesitated before doing as I said as I took off my belt,

WHACK! WHACK! WHACK-

She grabbed her stomach and fell to the floor as the belt caught her side,

"Shit.", I muttered, falling next to her, "I-I didn't mean to-" She shoved me away,

"I-I can't!", she cried, shakily getting up. "I...I quit."

"Kayla-" She turned and bolted from the office as I let out a deep breath, "Fuck."

I found Kayla in her crying car about ten minutes later. I got in the passenger seat and sighed,
