Zayn's P.O.V.

"Z?", Ryder said softly, moving back from the front window as I came inside.

"Hey, it's alright. He's not gonna mess with you again, okay?"

"W-Why could you do that for me but not for yourself?"

"Because protecting you guys is much more of a priority than protecting myself. Now, I've gotta go call Mason. Stay inside, okay?"

"I will." I bolted to a back room, calling Mason who answered immediately,

"Yeah kid?"

"Daddy!", I heard his ten year old daughter, Brooklyn in the background.

"One minute baby, I'm on the phone.", he said before pausing, "Zayn? What's going on?"

"C-Could you come over?", I choked out.

"Of course. I'm on my way."

"Hey where's your brother?", I heard Mason ask as he came in the front door. I bolted into the room, hugging him tightly. "You're good kid. I've got you." Mason was my second dad, my mentor, my safe place. I stepped back, wiping the tears off my face as I looked to Ryder,

"Hey, I'm alright kid. Can you go check on Evana for me?"

"Yeah.", he whispered, going upstairs.

"What happened?", Mason asked, pushing my hair from my face.

"M-Maurice raped Ryder."

"He'll be okay. You are. And I promise it won't happen to anyone ever again. I'm gonna handle it for good this time."

"Thanks."

"C'mon. Let's get you some water."

"I don't like it.", Evana whispered, her head in Ryder's lap. Another loud clap of thunder made everyone jump as Starr tightened her hold on my hand. I laid my arm over Ryder's shoulders,

"It's alright guys. Thunder can't hurt you and we're safe in here. I promise." Someone knocked on the front door as I sighed, "Stay here." I got up and went to the front door, opening it only to freeze, "D-Dad?"

"Miss me?", he asked.

"Yes.", I choked out, hugging him tightly.

"Bubba?", Ryder asked coming in, "Who's- Dad!"

"Hey Ry!", dad said, hugging him tightly.

"You're home."

"I'm home. It's alright baby.", "Dad said softly, "Where's your sister?"

"Daddy?", Evana whispered as she walked in, "You're home?"

"I'm home." She bolted over and hugged him. Shit. I wonder if he knows.

"D-Do you know?", Evana whispered from the bar.

"Know what?", dad asked.

"It was in my last letter.", I said softly, "You never responded."

"Zayn, I haven't gotten a letter from you in months kiddo."

"What?" Ry looked down guiltily. "Ry, what is it?"

"I-I took the letter.", he whispered.

"What?", Evana asked, "Why?"

"I-I-I was scared dad wouldn't come home."

"Why wouldn't I?", dad asked. Evana got up and ran out of the room.
