Kaden's P.O.V.

Friday night, I was panic cleaning the kitchen when Maverick came in,

"Dad, calm down. We're all here. You protect us and if grandpa were to do anything, we'd protect you too."

"Maverick if any of you ever get between me and your grandfather you will be in more trouble than ever. He's dangerous."

"You're more important." We both looked up as the back door opened and Mason ran in, finally home,

"Bubba!"

"Mase.", Maverick breathed, hugging him tightly, "I missed you so so much." He pulled Mason back, holding his shoulders, "If you ever touch, sell or do drugs again, I'll have your ass too. Got me?"

"Yeah. I-I'm sorry."

"I already forgave you. Don't ever leave me for that long again."

"I won't." Someone knocked on the front door as I froze,

"Fuck. Girls!", I called. They both came down the stairs as I sighed, "Remember our meeting?"

"Yes.", they chirped.

"Good. Mia, come with me." I gently led her to the front door as she hugged me,

"I love you."

"I love you too baby." I sighed, opening the door.

"Kaden!"

"Dad!", I forced a smile, trying to match his enthusiasm as he hugged me.

"How are you?"

"Good. Listen, Max and the kids moved in so it isn't just me and Mia now."

"You're a fag?" I flinched,

"No, I'm not. We just thought it'd be better for the kids and it is. We want them to know they're all siblings regardless of who their bio parents are and it was harder when we were hours apart."

"We're all a lot happier now.", Mia said softly. Dad looked down, seeming to only notice her now,

"Hi baby.", he said hugging her, "I thought by now your dad would have taught you not to speak out of turn."

"Sorry."

"It's okay.", I cut in, "We have voices for a reason in this house. She can speak when she wants."

Mia laid next to me in my bed,

"Daddy?"

"Yeah babes?"

"I'm sorry he was so terrible to you you're still afraid of him. I think you're an amazing person and I know a big part of that is you never wanting to be like him and you're not. You're the best dad ever and I'm really proud of you and grandpa's opinion doesn't matter because I'm your daughter and I'm always right."

"Well not always-"

"You could just take the compliment."

"I do, I do. Thank you baby. And you need to know that just because I can't stand up for myself to him, does not mean I won't stand up for you to him."

"I know. I even though you say not to, if something were to happen, I'd have your back too." I sighed,

"I know baby."

It was barely ten in the morning, and I was ready for the day to end. Mia slipped as she came into the kitchen,
