Chapter 6 - Mid Trial and Execution

Monokuma nodded his head, counting up the votes in his head while we waited for the results. We stood in deadly silence, the only sounds being heard being Ryuto's muttering.

"Ahem!" Monokuma began, grabbing our attention. "It seems like the votes have all been counted. Now then, let's take a look at the results!"

The screen that we had all become accustomed to lowered from the ceiling, flashing for a bit before properly turning on. As always, our faces were displayed as four red bars appeared by Ryuto's portrait.

So we voted him as the mastermind...

Wait, why are they only four votes?

As if the screen or Monokuma read my mind, the two remaining votes appeared beside my face.

My body froze as I stared at those two bars for what seemed like forever.

Two people...voted for me? Who?!?

I instantly turned my head to Ryuto. His eyes met mine for a second before turning away, refusing to look at me.

I assume that interaction means he probably voted for me...so who's the second person?

I looked around, glancing at everyone's face before landing on Kei. I remembered that piercing glare he gave me before submitting his vote. Does that mean...

Kei voted for me too?

"Hey, what the fuck?!?" Mizuki exclaimed, quickly snapping her head towards everyone behind her. "Who voted for Ku? Are you guys stupid? Dumb? Stupid and dumb?!?"

"Don't look at me." Toshiro immediately got defensive. "Why would I vote for someone who's obviously innocent?"

"Yeah. Kuro is the one who solved this whole thing anyway." Reina added.

"Well, it wasn't me or Ku...which was obvious!" Mizuki said before all eyes turned to Kei.

The silence Kei replied with was enough to show his answer.

"Seriously? You voted for her?" Shiro immediately got mad. "Right after she literally explained the whole case.

"You wanted to protect your stupid crush so badly so you voted for the wrong person, right? Apologize to Ku!" Mizuki demanded.

"But Ryuto isn't the right person either...!" He argued.

"You don't know that! We still have to reveal the verdict." Monokuma reminded us. "Is Ryuto the mastermind? Did you make the right choice, or the dreadfully wrong one? Let's see now..."

Once he concluded, the TV switched on to the roulette wheel. The arrow spun for what seemed like an eternity until it slowly landed on Ryuto's face, leaving the accused boy paralyzed in his place out of shock.

"W-Wait, what?!? That's not-"

Monokuma started to clap his paws together in an attempt to interrupt Ryuto. "Yes, yes! The person responsible for this whole entire killing game and the true blackened of Mei Tanoshi is in fact...Ryuto Gijustsu, the Ultimate Hacker!"

"No! N-No! He's wrong! Monokuma is wrong...!" Ryuto faced us all, now desperate to prove his innocence. "P-Please...you seriously think I would kill Mei? Or set this thing up? Guys...I'm innocent...Please!"

"So you're the mastermind...?" Toshiro glared at Ryuto with a bloodthirsty, angry intent.

"N-No! I'm not-"

Toshiro shut Ryuto up by grabbing his shirt collar and lifting him off the floor so his face was directly in front of him.

Ryuto keeps being interrupted today...
