I left the dormitory, a fresh yet gentle breeze blowing against my face. Since I had nothing better to do, I figured I would just walk about a bit. Maybe that will pass the time...
As I was thinking, I heard a loud excited exclamation come from around the corner of the main school building.
"Yes! I finally did it!"
Did...what?
Since I was dumb, I walked over to where the sound was coming from, seeing Mei standing with hand hands on her knees, stretching. She stood next to a fountain, the same one that leads to the trial room below. The flower beds and wooden arches covered in greenery surrounding it made it look somewhat beautiful but knowing the horrors that occurred in the room beneath us, I guess I just couldn't enjoy the scenery.
I focused my attention more on Mei.
"What are you doing?" I asked.
She looked up and smiled. "Just practicing. Just because we are trapped in a school with high chances of dying does not mean that we should skip out on a workout, with roller skates or not!"
Sometimes I forget that Mei is the Ultimate Roller Skater. In a death game scenario, I guess talents like that aren't as useful as a detective, hacker, or scientist. And by her outfit and looks, she doesn't look like a typical athlete at all. The only big clues are the huge mint roller skates on her feet.
Since I didn't have anything else to do, I sat down on a nearby wooden bench and continued to talk to her. "So what exactly are you practicing?"
"A skating routine. I finally got up to number seventeen, the Spread Eagle!" she responded.
That trick sounds...questionable.
"Anyway, since your here, wanna hang out? I can use a break and I can teach you to skate if you want!" Mei looked at me happily.
Should I hang out with Mei for a while?
> Yes <
No—
"Sure Mei, I'd love to hang out-" I was quickly interrupted by Mei squealing excitedly and tuning of to grab another pair of roller skates. What have I gotten myself into?
She returned with some grey and white skates, knee pads, wrist guards, and a helmet, setting them down on the empty space next to me.
"This isn't...dangerous is it?" I cautiously asked as I slowly looked towards her with a concerned expression.
"Well, when you're starting out, you're obviously going to fall, so we might as well use safety to make sure you don't get seriously injured!" She looked at my feet, signaling me to take my shoes off, which I did. She then took the skates and slipped them carefully onto my feet, making sure they were as comfortable as possible. Then, I put on the knee and wrist guards, before putting on the helmet, tying it around my head.
"So, how does it feel?" Mei asked.
I put out a thumbs up, as I was gradually starting to get used to all the new equipment in my body. I stood up and suddenly without any control, I began to slideway.
"Hey! I don't day to get up yet! You still need to assume the position, " she yelled as she chased after me and pulled me back to my original position so I didn't disappear.
