About an hour later, I finally came back home.

I plopped to my nearest couch and started to text Rachel, telling her that I was back home.

R- Sweet. I'll be there in about 20 minutes

Z- Ok, see you then!

End of Convo

I placed my phone on my stomach and sighed.

I hate myself. I really hate myself.

Ring. Ring.

I lifted the phone that was placed on my stomach to see who was calling. It was my mom.

"Hey, mom," I said in a happy tone

"Hey. So, our flight got delayed by a few hours, so we won't be home until 3:00 in the morning, your time,"

"Oh, ok, that's fine. Text me when you land, ok?"

"Ok. I have to go now! See you tomorrow,"

"Ok, see you tomorrow,"

"Bye,"

"Bye,"

She ended the call, and I dropped my phone to the side of me. I grabbed a pillow and hugged the soft object around my chest.

Ding

F- Everything ok?

Should I tell him now? Or do it face to face?

Z- Yeah, everything is fine

Z- Are you available sometime this weekend?

F-I wish, but I have to help my father with something in the house :(

F- Is it important?

Z- No, not really

F- Ok, I'll see you at school Monday

Z- Ok <3

End of Convo

Knock knock knock

I rolled off of the couch, landed on my feet, and walked to the door.

"Hey, Zoe. I brought some food," She said, walking in the door

"Thanks," I said softly, closing the door

Her face softened. "Hey, are you ok?"

I shook my head in frustration.

She wrapped her arms to hug me and walked me to the couch.

"Zoe, what's wrong? What happened?"

I stayed silent.

"What happened?"

"My dad came and visit me today," I said

"Ok. What happened?"

"He started to talk about my body, basically saying I need to change to get a boyfriend. I wanted to talk to Felix about this, but he's busy for the weekend, and I didn't want to bother him, so I have to wait until Monday to tell him face to face,"

She leaned towards me and gave me a soft hug.

"Everything is going to be alright," She cooed.

"I know. Thanks tho."

"Anything for my best friend."

I softly laid back and took a deep breath.

Breathe in. Breathe out.

"Anything else happened?"

"He also asked for some money,"

"How much?"

"$150.00"

"Jesus Christ, Zoey. Please tell me you didn't..."

I held my head down.

"Zoey! Why did you give him the money?"

"I know, it's just that if I gave him the money, I wouldn't see him again,"

She nodded. "Okay, that's fair. Do you know what the money is for?"

I shook my head. "Probably the same old. Either for weed or to pay for his other children via child support,"

"Shit, I'm sorry, Zo."

"It's okay,"

"Hey, this might be a bad time, but you can use this for your writing. You're still going to do that writing contest coming in March, right?" She asked, rubbing my back in comfort.

The tears slowly stopped.

"Oh no. I forgot about that! I didn't start the short story yet!"

"How long does the short story have to be?"

"A minimum of 3,250 words and a maximum of 7,500 with this contest."

"I mean, you always tell me that an average writer writes 1,000 words an hour."

"Yeah, a professional. One thousand words would take me an entire week, at the least! Then I need someone to edit, then fix those mistakes, and probably need to re-edit again and proofread it and turn it in. There is no way I can do that in a couple of months and deal with the number of assignments I will have within that time frame,"

"Zo, you're a writing machine. You have a topic, now make an outline, then start your rough draft."

I nodded my head. "Yeah, you're right."

"There you go! That's the Zoey Henson I know."

I softly smiled.

"Let's eat, and then I'll help you start your outline." She said

"Let's do it!"

---

After Rachel and I ate and wrote my outline down, she watched her siblings since her parents would have a date night.

"Remember, Zo, Courage," She said before walking out of my house.

I nodded. "Okay, I'll see you later,"

"Okay. Text me if you need anything,"

"Okay, sure will,"

"Bye."

"Bye."

I closed the door behind her and sighed. I started to drag my tired feet upstairs to my room and stopped at the tall mirror. I just kept staring and staring at my reflection. I stared at my body. I looked at every single curve and all of the flaws I had.

Too much fat in the back. Too much stomach to wear some cute clothes. Thighs are too thick. Too close to having a triple chin. Arms are too flabby. My weight is not good. You might crush Felix if you sat on his lap.

Flashbacks of me back into my middle school days, doing the same thing and thinking of the same thing as well.

I sat in the nearest corner and started to burst into tears.

I don't deserve Felix.
