Mikey was in the dojo late one night, deep in meditation. Ever since the recent events that unfolded, Raph had been there for him quite a lot. Not like he blames him or anything; those moments have been pretty terrifying to say the least. He still remembers them clearly as if they were yesterday. Like the time he nearly drowned with the squirrelanoids...
.....................................................................................................
Mikey dusted off his hands in triumph as the squirrelanoids disappeared under the water in the flushed drain. "That oughta take care of them," he said with a grin. Hopefully, he and his brothers won't have to deal with them again anytime soon.

Then there was trouble: just as Mikey began to leave, a technical suddenly shot out of the drain and headed right towards the youngest. Before Mikey took take notice and do anything about it, it wrapped around him at the neck and pulled him down the drain with him! Screaming, Mikey got pulled into the water. He broke the surface, struggling to get the technical off him, but it was no use. Frantically, he screamed for help again, hoping that somebody heard him, right before he was yanked back down under the surface again.

He fruitlessly reached out a hand, now feeling desperate. His breath came out in bubbles as he continued to get pulled down to what was definitely certain doom below. Uselessly trying to swim back upwards, he grew faint and weak from lack of air. His vision blurred as unconsciousness got the better of him. His body went limp.

Just when it looked like it was too late, a large, emerald-green hand grabbed Mikey's own hand, which was still outstretched. With the last bit of his strength, Mikey managed to get the technical off him before going completely limp. The hand pulled him back up to the surface. "I got you!" said a voice.

    "We all do!" said another.

Mikey stirred himself awake to see who saved him. It was Raph, Donnie, and Leo! They'd heard his screams for help and had formed a sort of turtle chain to get him out, Raph being at the end of it! They had saved his life!

Mikey smiled, frightened yet grateful, but fear should up in him again when a screeching sound was heard. One squirrelanoid leapt out from the drain in a last minute attempt to get to Mikey. Not wanting the whole thing to happen again, however, Raph threw a few ninja stars at it, stabbing it and sending it back down the drain.

Once Mikey was pulled up to safety, Donnie suggested they give Mikey some space. "He might still be traumatized from what recently happened," he explained.

And he was. Catching his breath, he looked down at the sewer drain, at least pleased that those squirrelanoids were gone and couldn't harm them anymore. Then, everything came back to him, and panic hit him like a tsunami as he fell on his knees, shaking violently. Raph took a couple steps towards him, feeling worried. "Mikey?" he said, catching his attention.

He looked up to see Raph had knelt down to be at his eye level. He held out his arms as an invitation to come to him, gesturing with his fingers in a "come here" motion. Realizing what he was asking, Mikey slowly crawled over to him (still shaking and not having the strength to stand at this point) and entered the comfort, nestling himself against him. Raph took his time and immediately wrapped his arms around him, hugging him tight and murmuring sweet nothings into his ear to calm him down while rocking them both back and forth to help stop the shuddering. Leo and Donnie joined in on the hug (Leo on the right and Donnie on the left) so that Mikey was surrounded by love on all sides. "Glad you didn't get flushed down there with them, bro," Raph finally said after a while.

Mikey smiled up at him, wobbly as it was. "You and me both, dude," he managed to say.

They stayed that way for quite a while.
......................................................................................................
Mikey smiled at the memory. Sure, he was still a little antsy around water, but at least he was over it now. Plus, they hadn't seen any squirrelanoids in a long while, so he took that as a good sign. Then there was the time where he'd been badly beaten into unconsciousness *ahem, ahem* by Tigerclaw (thanks a lot, you big, catlike jerk).
......................................................................................................
Tigerclaw had disappeared into the night after getting Karai back. Leo wanted to go after them, but a groan caught his attention. He turned to see Mikey, badly bruised and unconscious, having been beaten by the mutant tiger. Raph was beside him, carefully cradling him in his arms. "Wow. I think his shell has been knocked loose," said Donnie, who was checking for injuries. "We have to get him back to Master Splinter."

"But what about Karai?" Leo asked, still wanting to get her back.

Raph glanced up at him. "She's still with the Foot," he said.

"But she's Splinter's daughter," Leo argued.

"The Shredder raised her," said Raph as he glanced back down at his unconscious baby brother, baby-blue eyes hidden behind his eyelids. "Daddy's probably welcoming her home right now." He stood up, carefully picking up Mikey as he finished.

Eventually, Mikey got better and...well, let's just say the rest is history.
......................................................................................................
Mikey sighed deeply, checking to make sure that his shell was still on him, which it was. At least it didn't get worse, so that was a relief. He thought of other times when the older turtle had gotten his back, going through them one by one. His smile grew a little bigger, happy that no matter what they'd gone through, Raph had been there for him no matter how annoying the youngest could be on a daily basis. Soon realizing that it was getting late, he decided to go to bed, but he ended up never moving; his meditation had put him to sleep.

Raph happened to pass by later after getting a drink. Seeing the lights in the dojo still on, he was confused. Thinking that Splinter was inside, he decided to go check. When he opened the door however, his eyes landed on his baby brother's still form. Hiding an amused snort, he headed in that direction and knelt down in front of him. "Mikey?" he whispered, touching his shoulder.

Mikey stirred a bit before opening bleary eyes. Glancing upwards, a sleepy smile grew as he saw the red-banded turtle in front of him. "Hey, Raphie," he said happily.

Raph chuckled softly as he pulled Mikey into his arms. "Hey, bud," he said. "What're you doing here? Figured you'd be in bed by now."

"Thinking," Mikey answered with a yawn as he curled himself into Raph's plastron.

    "About what?" asked Raph, curious.

"About you always being there for me," Mikey replied, reaching out a hand and cupping his face. "You're my hero."

Raph smiled as he covered Mikey's outstretched hand with his own. "Thanks, bud," he said. "And we're brothers. We look out for each other."

Mikey smiled as he tried to sit up and cuddle him despite his increasing tiredness. Luckily, Raph got the picture and leaned his head downward so he could touch his forehead against the youngest's, making Mikey sigh with satisfaction. Raph smiled at that as he used his hand to cup the back of his head and brung them closer, making their beaks touch. He stood up, picking up his little brother with him, and carried him to his room. When he arrived, he laid Mikey down in bed and tucked him in. He attempted to go, only to realize that Mikey wasn't letting go. A chuckle came out  of him as he knew what that meant. "You want me to spend the night?" he asked.

Mikey nodded. Smiling, Raph gently moved Mikey over to the wall and climbed in after him, placing the bed covers over them both. Mikey instantly embraced Raph again, laying on top of him. The older turtle chucked as he returned the embrace. "You okay now, Little Sunshine?" he asked.

Mikey nodded and nuzzled Raph's beak with his own. "I love you, Raphie," he said as he fell asleep.

Raph smiled and planted a kiss on his forehead. "I love you to, baby brother," he said.

He closed his eyes and followed his baby brother to sleep, but not before making this promise: "I'll still be here for you no matter what happens in the future. I promise."
