I'm sorry. I had no idea. I mouth to him.

Leave now. He mouths back to me.

Quickly, I grab Megan's drink from her hand and place it on the bar. I announce that we are leaving this dump for something more upbeat. Reaching into my purse, I place a hundred on the bar and start pushing her towards the door.

"This place is fine." She laughs in my direction as I'm guiding her out.

Just before we reach the door, Allen jumps in front of us. With a wicked, malicious grin he starts pushing us towards the backroom.

"YOU." Megan shouts at her brother. "I HATE YOU."

Megan looks at me with desperation, she is terrified. I close my eyes and start to panic. I know there is no escape and the best I can do now is get Megan out. My hands squeeze into a fist in anger. I shiver at the severity of the situation.

I whip in the direction of Allen's face, connect the heel of my hand with his nose. Just like I did in Boston, and with the same outcome. Allen's nose is broken and he's whimpering in pain. In that moment of a distraction, I push Megan towards the door and tell her to run.

"Don't come back." I make her promise.

Watching Megan get outside feels me with momentary relief, that quickly fades when Allen grabs one of my arms and twists it behind my back. Pain races towards my shoulder. He pushes me towards the back, not stopping for anything now.

Just inside the door of the backroom, I come face to face with the devil. The tall, greasy man staring at me is pure evil.

"You must be Johnny." I glare at him.

He has short black hair, long skinny black eyebrows with multiple piercings, a strong jawline, and a lit cigarette hanging from his thin lips.

"It fills my heart knowin' I mean that much to Benji. I see he told you about me."

"Well...when we talk about waste of human life...your name came up." I hiss.

Johnny stands from his chair. He walks to me slowly. He is a scrawny man, nowhere near Ben's size. I almost laugh at the biblical ink on his arms - I didn't know evil believed in the bible.

"This is for Mickey." He slaps me hard across the face.

I fall to my knees, convinced my cheekbone is shattered.

"Well, you hit harder than Allen." I mumble.

"FUCK YOU." He says behind me.

"You're a stupid bitch. What's a nice girl like you getting mixed up in this world? Ben is nothing but a loser rat. Unfortunately, you have to die because of his big mouth." Johnny barks.

The room once again erupts with laughter, they all did what Johnny did. The laughter stops and screams start around me. Slowly, I turn my head behind me and see Ben busting into the room with three other men. Ben is taking people down with his fists, making it look effortless.

"BENJI. Shit boys - is it my birthday? I have both of them." Johnny sounds excited as he grabs me from the floor.

Ben looks up and sees the grip Johnny has on me. "Let her go. This has nothing to do with her. This is between you and me."

"I disagree. You're just in time for the party. I just told your little lady that she was going to die because of you."

I feel the cold metal of the gun on my temple.

As I wonder about my death, I look at Ben.

I never wanted it to end like this. I want more time with him, with our babies.
