I can hear the whispering around me when I try to open my eyes. When I finally will them open, I'm lying in my bed and Ben is looking down at me with a grin. Darting upright, I look around the room, it's our place and the room is ours.
"You won't believe the nightmare I just had." I touch his face and pull him down to me.
"I bet I would." He pulls away from me with a sad expression. "It wasn't a nightmare, it's real."
I put my head back on the pillow and start crying. It wasn't a dream, we are stuck in a world fighting faceless bodies.
"I was supposed to die, right?" I ask.
"And I told you that I wasn't going to let that happen. I'm not going to let you give up." He kisses my forehead. "Someone is here to see you."
He moves from the bed just as my parents walk into the room. I jump from the bed and run to them. After meeting Rick, I was hoping to see them again. I'm sobbing in my mom's arms, she soothes me. My dad hugs the both of us while I cry in my mom's arms.
"Sit down." My mom guides me to the chair by the window.
"How long are you staying?" I force out.
"Not much longer. Allyson, we came to tell you to not give up. Mom and I wished we would have this chance to make it back to you, but we let you down and another person in your life disappeared..." My dad tears up.
"Sweetheart, we've been here watching the whole time. You were never alone." My mom hugs me.
"I miss you. Everyday." I tell the both of them. "I never had the chance to thank you – you saved me. Also, Ben made me take your bedroom in Vancouver. I do love it, but if you don't want me there, I will move." I look at them.
The two of them start laughing. "Oh Allyson. It's your house and we are happy that you still have it."
Ben is behind them, something tells me that I will never be out of his sight again. When I tell my parents that I want to introduce him, they share that they have been getting to know him while I slept.
"You like him, don't you?" I smile at my dad.
"You have a good one, kiddo." He nods.
"I know. I wish you could stay. Have you seen the babies?"
"We have. Ben is very proud to show them off and they look just like our baby." My dad kiss my cheek.
"Ally, when you wake up...move to Vancouver and raise your family in your house. Stop thinking of it as our house, it's yours. Make your own memories in it now. I love you so much and I'm so proud of the woman you grew up to be." My mom says kissing my temple.
"Take care of each other. Nothing is more important than love and family...everything else means nothing in the end." My dad shares.
My heart hurts because I know this is their final goodbye, they are leaving again. I stand up and hug each of them tight. Ben hugs and kisses each of them on the cheek before they walk out of the bedroom door and leave the two of us alone again.
"I understand why you love them so much." Ben pulls me to his lap.
"They were amazing. I want to go home." I frown at him.
"Agree. I asked your dad for his permission to marry you, of course he loves me." He jokes. "When we make it back, we make this bond legal."
"Promise?" I narrow my eyes at him.
"Promise. I love you. Please don't scare me like that again. I lost you for two days, and I didn't know if you were coming back to me." He kisses my nose.
