Cut Magazine had approached them for a featured video on their channel one day.
Apparently the producers had a project where they invited identical sets of twins to play a game of "Truth or Drink". They would ask each other questions and get to choose between the cold hard truth or a stiff drink. The channel had a decent enough following, with views going up into the millions and there was no real question on whether to do it or now. Seeing as how they both didn't drink alcohol, they'd have to answer the questions truthfully, but the twins had never had trouble being honest in front of a camera so that didn't seem off-putting.
The crew had warned them about the questions beforehand, mentioning that they would be mostly personal. They wanted to base their project on family dynamics. Sibling relationships. Twin connections. The twins still agreed easily to doing the video. They got asked about their relationship with each other all the time. Not just in interviews, but on the street by fans and strangers and even friends. It got a bit tiring sometimes, but they had grown kind of used to it.
This game however wasn't like anything they had ever done. It was just the two of them, sitting opposite of each other in a white studio. Just a table and two chairs and a couple of bottles of hard liquor next to a stack of cards they were supposed to read out to each other.
Laurent cleared his throat and squirmed a bit in his seat, more excited than nervous in the situation they found themselves in.
He licked his lips and held Larry's gaze intently across the table.
Laurent went first.
"What's the worst thing you've ever done to each other?" he asked and immediately swallowed as he put the card back onto the stack of used cards. He avoided eye-contact and tried to smile off the nervous energy that bubbled up inside of him.
Larry was handling the question just as badly, if not worse. He fidgeted around in the chair.
"C'mon, guys... Why is it always the bad stuff you wanna know about?" Larry tried to laugh it off, but Laurent could read how uncomfortable he was with the memories the question had stirred up inside of them. There were things between them they didn't share with the world. Not with their most trusted friends or most valued followers.
"We hurt each other a lot," Laurent eventually answered, trying to not be rude with his rebuttal even though they had both wordlessly agreed that they wouldn't go into any details on this one. "We are close and sometime we fight, i's just... that's the way it works. So, there you go."
He shrugged and he could feel the gratitude from Larry across the table without having to look at him, knowing his brother would have hated for him to have offered up an example.
The next question was up and this time it was Larry's turn.
"Have girls ever asked about a threesome with you and your twin?"
Larry met Laurent's gaze over the table top and they both cracked up at the same time. It was Larry who recovered first. He pulled a face as if to say 'are you for real?' and shook his head. "All the freakin' time."
"It's crazy." Laurent snorted, his eyes drifting to the side at the memories of so many of the girls he dated and even just random chicks he had flirted with at a bar or something asking him whether Larry and he were open for... well, that.
"Don't do that." Laurent pointed a finger at the camera with his best no-nonsense face. "Just... don't, okay?"
Larry laughed again. "It's me or him, you can't have both."
"Sorry ladies," Laurent added with a shrug.
They decided to leave it at that.
"Who's better at math?" Laurent read out the next question and somehow not even a minute later they ended up in a squabble about high school and their math teacher and Larry copying Laurent's homework, all of which ended in a victory for Laurent.
