To this day, Jason had considered Laurent and Larry Bourgeois almost perfect.
They were charismatic and talented to a degree that – frankly speaking – wasn't fair to the rest of the population. Jason almost regretted taking them in as part of his tour because they took away his spotlight.
Jason could tell that with each passing day, the boys managed to take up more space in his production, both literally and figuratively. The crew was looking at THEM for direction instead of him. It had started small, with Larry suggesting which music to use for their Vegas show and Laurent taking total control of the team warm-ups before each rehearsal. Then Larry improved Jason's choreography, and Laurent called Jason's manager 'Ben' as if they'd known each other forever, and on and on the list went. Little by little, the boys managed to win the hearts of everybody in Jason's team. And honestly, Jason couldn't even hold it against them. They were the most skilled dancers he had ever worked with, but it was so much more than that. They could make even the most mundane aspects of life fun, like going out for dinner, playing card games, or listening to music.
Jason had started idolizing them a bit.
But he'd been wrong.
Nobody was perfect.
Usually, the people who seemed to have it all together were the most broken.

The elevator was a hug of metal dressed in pitch black. It opened its doors like a giant-sized jewelry box and sat there dauntingly, waiting for them to enter.
Maybe if Jason hadn't been so damn tired from their thirteen hours plane ride, he would have seen the unease on Laurent's face as they boarded the lift, but as it was, his back was turned and he was unbeknownst to the older Bourgeois twin's discomfort.
Jason wouldn't have expected Laurent - confident, unfazed, composed Laurent –to be afraid of something as mundane and unexciting as an elevator ride. With his calm character and nurturing streak toward Larry, he always gave off a vibe of stability. The perfect counterpart to Larry's mood swings. He kept his cool, even in stressful situations. Jason had found himself quietly admiring the guy's steel composure, how he seemed to stride through life easily, never letting anyone get underneath his skin, never rising to anyone's bait, always in control. Jason didn't think he would live to see the day when Laurent's tough-guy act started showing cracks. He stepped into that elevator completely unprepared, unaware that his bullet-proof image of the twins and their 'perfection' was about to be shattered.
"You guys on the same floor as me?" Jason asked, pressing his key card against the reader and hitting the button for the thirty-eighth floor for himself.
"Twenty-two," Larry answered, pressing the button on the other side of the lift several times and then stepping back to lean against the wall, his eyes trained on his brother as though he was trying to read his expression and body language.
Laurent stood beside Larry quietly, his features schooled into a calm expression; eyes locked onto the lift doors as though willing them to close as quickly as possible. The corners of Laurent's lips were tense and the fingers of his tattooed hand were tapping against his sides as though he was fighting the sudden urge to launch himself forward and pry the doors open.
And that came as a surprise.
He wasn't... afraid, was he?
Jason raised an eyebrow in surprise. "You okay, man?" He regretted the words as soon as they left his lips when their perfectly matching eyes latched onto him in a warning glare. Jason lifted his palms as if to say 'my bad', instantly knowing that he had overstepped some sort of boundary.
