Being famous wasn't what people made it out to be.
Sure, it was nice to not worry about paying bills. But no amount of money could make up for the things Jason had given up in exchange. His freedom. His friends. His mental stability. His privacy.
These days, he couldn't even go to the 7-11 without some paparazzi sneaking a picture. The last time he'd done anything normal like going to the cinema was so long ago he could barely remember it. And dating was virtually impossible with the major trust issues he had developed throughout the years, after many failed attempts to find someone who liked him for who he was and not just for the money in his bank account. Even the relationship with his long-term girlfriend had failed after only a year of living together and now the mansion that Jason had hoped to fill with the sound of his children's laughter was as quiet and deserted as a deserted island...
So, there it was... the bitter reality of being famous.
It was an isolating experience.
It was fucking lonely.
And quite frankly – Jason was tired of it.

The first thing Jason noticed about the twins, was that they were charismatic.
Even as someone who circulated amongst the rich and famous, Jason had been mesmerized by their charisma. Everything, from the way they moved, to the way they laughed and spoke and carried themselves had something entertaining to it.
Most of all, though, Jason had noticed their 'togetherness'. They were truly two halves of a whole. Two perfectly matching puzzle pieces. Their synchronicity was one thing, but there was something intangible that connected them beyond the band of blood and brotherhood. They were the opposite of being lonely. And that was maybe what pulled him in the most.
"I've seen you two," Jason said. "You're the guys from that TV show... the dancers..."
One of them seized him up, while the other just smiled. "Hey, I think I know you too. You're that singer...? The one that sang 'U Remind Me'?"
Jason huffed out a snort and the ice was broken. They hit it off after that, having a normal conversation. They didn't feel the same worship-like admiration for him that most people did. Conversation with them flowed easily and Jason found himself enjoying their company a lot. As it turned out the boys were incredibly knowledgeable when it came to music, probably more than he was himself. They seemed to have an almost endless supply of tracks he had never come across before and to his amusement, they were INCAPABLE of standing still, always moving, legs bouncing, fingers tapping, heads bopping to the beat. They were the life of any party, the center of everyone's attention. Two perfectly matching bundles of energy and Jason didn't know how to look away.
He found himself a little obsessed with them, feeling self-conscious about how he came off. Would they want to hang out with him outside of the movie shoots and how could he get their number without coming off lonely?
"Are you always this close?" The words slipped out before he had the good sense to bite them back, but luckily the twins took it in stride, probably used to getting comments like this.
"What us, close?" the one with the bigger smile asked, a mischievous twinkle in his eyes. Jason still couldn't tell them apart. He glanced over at his brother, who was still seemingly lost in the music, having misheard (or chosen to ignore) Jason's question about their closeness. "I hate the guy."
"Sure, you do," Jason grinned, buying into the lie easily. He felt weirdly... alive, being in their presence and – for the first time in a long time, he chose to let his guard down around a pair of complete strangers and hoped to hell that it wouldn't come to bite him in the ass.
