Chapter 8

"Oliver is right. Doon ka kay Karissa mo." Nakasimangot kong sabi.

Pinasadahan ko ng tingin si Karissa. She was avoiding my gaze like a shy kid. Alam kong nagseselos siya. I can't imagine the pain she's feeling right now.

"See, Luan and I can handle the situation." Nakangising sagot ni Oliver.

Seryosong tingin ang binato niya sa aming dalawa ni Oliver. Walang imik siyang umalis sa tabi ko at bumalik kay Karissa. Abel whispered something on her and the girl just nodded, looking like losing an appetite.

"Pupunta ka ba sa amin ngayon para makapagpahinga?" Tanong ni Karissa kay Abel.

The feast is done. Oliver taught me how to eat using my bare hand. It's complicated at first, but after several tries, I learned the right technique.

Nililigpit na ang mga dahon ng saging. Pinakain na sa mga alagang aso ang mga natira. I'm resting and sitting in a long wooden chair right now. Vino is telling some jokes while Oliver is just listening along with me.

Nandito pa rin ang pride na meron ako at sinasabi nito na hindi dapat ako makipagkaibigan sa kanila. My fake friends are never been poor. Their stand in the society are high, but never as same rank as mine. 

But even though they also have the luxury, they still got jealous of me. If those people with money wish me worst, showed me fake remorse, how about these people? I'm rich and they aren't.

I don't like the people around here. It's true. But I can use them for my own benefits. Same as what my fake friends did to me. 

"Hindi muna. Kasama ko si Luan." Maeahan na sagot ni Abel. Karissa looked at me with a poker face. I raised my brow, indirectly telling her to back-off.

"Inayos ko na ang pahingahan natin."

Pahingahan huh? Magpapahinga ba o magpapagod?

Naririnig ko ang usapan nila dahil malapit lang naman kami sa kinatatayuan nila. Nagpupunas si Abel ng mesa di kalayuan sa amin. Nasa gilid niya naman si Karissa.

"Hindi ko pwedeng iwan si Luan. Pagod ka na ba?" Mabagal na tumango si Karissa. "Ihahatid na muna kita pauwi, kung gano'n." Naging mapakla ang mukha ni Karissa. Mukhang kanina pa siya hindi natutuwa kay Abel. 

"Kung hindi ka pupunta sa amin para mag pahinga saglit, saan kayo pupunta?"

Huminto si Abel sa pagpupunas. Humawak siya sa balikat ni Karissa at may sinabi. Pabulong ito kaya hindi ko na narinig pa. Pasimpleng umismid si Karissa. Tumingin saglit sa akin si Abel. Inirapan ko siya.

Sabay silang umalis at naglakad palayo sa amin. I think it's a private conversation between them so Abel choose to go somewhere else.

"Looks like you're enjoying your stay here, huh." Oliver whispered near me. I looked at him with dagger eyes. He chuckled before licking his lips sensually.

"Who are you and what are you doing in our lands, Oliver?"

"I'm one of the workers here." He answered while grinning.

"Idiot. I'm not going to believe you." Humalukipkip ako. Iba na ngayon ang kausap ni Vino kaya ako na ang ginugulo ng Oliver na'to.

"Idiot, huh? That's how you'll thank me, Luan Mauriza Del-cojuanco?" He asked playfully. 

I gasped for air. "How did you know my full name?" Pinaningkitan ko siya ng mga mata. "Stalker!"

"Idiot and Stalker. Will it get beyond worse?"
