Chapter 8.

Megan's POV
I woke up around 7 because of Normani's alarm. I stretched my arms a little and then and pulled her closer into me, placing my arms where they were before.

"Megan come on we gotta get up," I heard Normani's voice as she tried to move

"Mm mm , 5 more minutesss," I whined

She laughed at me, "come on, Ms.Dawn doesn't play when it comes to Juneteenth weekend," she began to explain. I sighed and released her from my arms. She went into the bathroom and did all her hygienic things. When she came back into the room I started to drift back to sleep.

"Come onnn, get uppp," she started to tug on me.

I stretched and yawned before sitting up on her bed.
"I'm so tired," I complained. I am not a morning person.

She smiled real big at me.
"You'll be okay," she gave me a kiss on the cheek and then pulled me up using my hands.

I walked to the bathroom and brushed my teeth. I washed my face and was careful to not get soap on my bonnet. After I finished that I used the bathroom and checked my phone. It was just Rome and Kehlani teasing the fuck outta me.

I went back into her room and saw her in some shorts and finishing with putting her sports bra on. She put a tang top on over it.

"We gotta go soon, I'm gonna fix up some breakfast for my gma and then we can pick up some food later,"

I nodded in agreement. We were just going to set up for a little before coming back and actually getting dressed. So I wore a graphic tee and some black shorts as well.

I made my way downstairs to greet grandmaG. I gave her a hug and Normani told her the plan.

"Also if we're back too late I brought some food for you from work," I added while handing her a water bottle so she could take her pills.

Normani fixed her some oatmeal and I put the dishes that were in the strainer away.

"Do you need anything else?"

"Honey you better go, I got it from here!" The elder woman insisted.

We got into my car and Normani told me the location we were supposed to go to. It was this large field, the plants and flowers were beautiful for real. I don't normally like the outside as much but it was really pretty out.

We say Ryan and her mom so we started getting tables up and setting their station up. Although I'm not the best person for hospitality, I am great moral support. They had me doing a lot of running around though. I had posted about the event on my socials. We finished up around 10 but we had to be back at 1:30. The event takes place at 2 but it's important for us to be here.

Once Normani and I left we were discussing what kind of food to pick up cause yo girl is hungry.

"What you wanna eat?" I asked her as I pulled out of the parking lot.

"Mm I just want a bowl from chipotle,"

"I could use a bowl too," I was satisfied with her choice. Once we got inside chipotle we were deciding what we wanted in our bowls and as I pulled out my wallet she already had her card inserted typing in her pin.

"Mani-"

"No, we agreed I pay next, thank you," she spoke to me and then the cashier.

I grabbed our bag and we sat down at a near table.
"So how long have you been doing this festival," I asked her as I handed her food over.

"It started 3 years ago, ever since the idea was placed we've been doing it,"

"My mom would've loved something like this," I mumbled to myself while taking a bite of my food.
