Normani's POV
"Mani you okay?" Ryan shook my arm as we sat at the lunch table.
"Yeah, yeah," I shook my head , getting out of the mind.
I walked to my second period class , listening to my music.
Paige and her friends walked passed me in the hall but I payed them no mind.
"Ugly bitch," Paige used her weight to ram through my shoulder making my books fall.
"What is wrong with you?" I asked while taking an AirPod out and bending down to pick my textbooks up.
"This the girl you was talm about?" A light skinned girl pointed and laughed as they walked away.
"She should bleach her skin so she wouldn't have this problem," another girl spoke.
I picked up my things and rushed off to the bathroom.
"Somethings wrong, did something happen earlier?" Solana asked me.
I shook my head.
I stayed quiet and let my mind take over. This reminds me of middle school.
"Whenever you ready , we right here," Solana held my hand and I gave a soft smile.
Once I finished up school I hung around for dance.
"Heyyy, you feeling okay?" Coach came into the gym.
"Yeah," I smiled
She studied me.
"What's going on?" She sat next to me on the gym floor next to an outlet.
"Hard day," I answered quickly
"Is there anything I can help with?"
"Nah I'm good," I smiled and she nodded.
As more students came in we began practice. It was an easy practice still light foot work that we've been working on.
After we wrapped things up I headed out to my car.
"Hey!" I recognized Paiges voice.
I kept walking.
"Yo you hear me talking to you?" She ran up to me turning me around.
"Leave me the fuck alone Paige!" I pushed her off of me. "What do you want?"
I backed away from her.
She looked me over.
"Why you look like that?"
I sucked my teeth and started to walk away again.
"Aye!" She grabbed my arm but I snatched it away.
"Leave me alone," I tried to open my car door before she got in front of it.
"What's wrong?"
"You!" I raised my voice "all the shit you and your friends say to me in the hallway that's what's wrong Paige,"
"Listen I'm-"
"Sorry? You're sorry? Fuck you and your apology. Just move,"
"Have you told Megan?"
I froze, confused with her question.
"What?"
"Did you tell her what I've been saying?"
"No Paige I haven't told anyone,"
"Why?"
"Because if I tell Megan then she'll beat your ass and you know that. That's why you're afraid?"
"I'm not afraid,"
"You have one more time to touch me or harass me again and I promise I won't be quiet anymore. Now move,"
She moved from the door. I got inside of my car.
"If you come near my car I will run you over!" I yelled
Making her move.
She's been pissing me off, but I don't want Megan to get involved and I don't want to make this bigger than what it has to be.
In middle and elementary school me and Ryan used to both be bullied heavy for our skin color. I finally learned how to love myself in high school but my insecurities still eat me up sometimes.
Once I started driving a tear of mine shed.
"No body would want someone who looks like you!" A tall boy pointed and laughed at me while I was on the wood chips of the play ground.
"Leave her alone!!" Ryan ran over to me trying to help me up off the ground
"You're ugly too!" Another boy gave over
"You guys are too dark," a boy of my same complexion ridiculed me
"It's okay Mani we're both beautiful," Ryan continued to help me up. We ran back to Ms.Dawn.
"I want to go home," I frowned , looking up at Ms.Dawn.
"Why?"
"Those boys over there, they're mean," Ryan crossed her arms
"What happened baby?"
"They said me and Mani are too dark,"
"Oh I'm gon beat they little asses," she cussed under her breath
"It's okay Ms.Dawn,"
"Not it's not Normani, it is not true,"
"But what if it is?"
