Normani's POV

"Guyssss it's been days should I just pull up?" I cooked some shrimp on a hot pan and boiled rice on the back burner.

"What does does pull up mean?" My gma sat at the kitchen table along with my aunts and my mom.

"I'm not sure," my aunt Angela added.

"Are we still talking about Megan?" My aunt Sanaa asked

"That's all she talk about," My mom sat back

"That's not true I'm just worried," I walked across the kitchen to grab a cutting board and some tomatoes. I was preparing some pico de gallo.

"Gma did you take your pills? Dr.Long said that she'll also be your nurse when i can be here so when school starts," I reminded her.

"I know Normani, you worry too much,"

"Yeah yeah, and pull up means show up,"

"This girl is nothing but trouble from what I hear," my gma shook her head. She's not fully supportive but we are getting there.

"I think she's good for Normani," I heard my mom say.

"Thank you Regina," calling her mom is way too weird for me so I just refer to her as her real name.

"Hiiii bingo buds," I heard Solana and Ryan walk inside.

"I don't even play bingo," I heard my aunt Sanaa rebuttal.

"Y'all want a rice bowl? I'm making it with shrimp,"

"Whatever you cook , I want. I swear I've told you that before," Ryan said giving me a hug.

"I'm making Megan a plate too. I haven't talked to her ina few days I'm worried," I frowned

"Her dad has her on like house arrest, Keith was telling me about it," Ryan grabbed some dishes from the strainer putting them away.

"Solana could you grab me some bowls please?"

Solana nodded and grabbed a few for me. I filled them up evenly for everyone. And set some aside for Megan.

"Baby you gon eat something?" I heard my mom ask.

I shook my head, "there's not enough, I'll eat something later,"

"Here have some of mine, I insist," I sat down next to her and we shared some food.

"So mom why don't you like Megan?" Auntie Angela asked.

"I don't like all of the homosexual stuff. It's all too much,"

"You know I used to bump coochies in the jail ce-"

"Regina," aunt Sanaa bumped her shoulder.

Solana and Ryan started laughing. "Ain't no way boy," Solana laughed even harder.

"You guys are still just like kids," aunt Angela rolled her eyes

"Well all I'm saying is there's nothing wrong with wrong with love even if it comes from someone who's the same gender as you," my mom raised her hands up in defense.

"I agree," my aunts said simultaneously.

Solana nodded her head. As well as Ryan as she took a scoop from her food.

"In the Bible it's a sin and I stick by that," my gma chewed her food slow.

"Mom believe whatever you want, but I don't want you discriminating against Megan and my daughter,"
