Chapter 16.

Megan's POV

I parked my car in my driveway before unlocking my door. I entered and left a good amount of money on the counter with a note on it.

For the bills

"Dad you in here?" I called

"Yeah, hey," he walked from his room and gave me a hug.

He smelled like cologne?

"How are you, you okay?" I asked, surprised honestly.

"Yes I am okay, great even. And the bills for this month are paid, take this and keep it," he grabbed the money from the counter placing it in my hands.

"Oh? What happen?"

"Nothing sweetheart, I just started talking to some people and I got a therapist recently. Im trying to be a better father. Here by the end of the week I'll have enough money to get you a studio session,"

"A studio session? Like in the studio?"

"Yes Meg don't be so surprised,"

I smiled uncontrollably. I don't know what made him get a therapist but I wasn't complaining.

"Where you off to?"

"The hospital,"

"Is everything alright?"

"This girl I really like, her name is Normani,"

"You got a girlfriend? I wanna meet her asap i don't want no women playin my daughter," he sat on the dining room chair.

"She's a good one dad I promise,"

"Better than that Caresha?"

I sighed thinking of Caresha. I know I have to tell Normani about it before Caresha did. And I know Caresha will.

I nodded my head, "you'd like her, she's a hard worker, real smart. She has passion dad. She's doing this medical program right now and she's going into her senior year," I rambled on

"She sounds great, but I don't want her stopping your dream okay?"

"I know I know,"

"So continue, why're you going to the hospital?"

"Her grandma is the only woman who raises her, she had a stroke and now she's in the hospital. I want to be here for her so if I'm not at work, I'm there," I explained

"Well I hope everything with her grandma turns out fine, once her grandmas out the hospital I wanna meet her, alright go on and get out of that uniform,"

I hugged my dad once more.
He was still this cheerful teddy bear. He must've stopped drinking for at least a week and he's already himself again.

I took a shower and got dressed soon after. Leaving the house on my way to the hospital. I saw Normani's mom.

"You," she called to me

"Good afternoon," I answered, although my girl was upset with her mother I know I have to respect her and I wouldn't imagine doing other wise.

Seeing everything go down between Normani and her mom made me rethink of me potentially reuniting with my mom.

I looked over Regina. Noticing an ankle monitor on her right foot. Raising my eyebrows her eyes followed mine. Shaking her leg so let her pant leg drop over it.

"You're dating my daughter?" Her voice was stern.

"Yes ma'am , we're not official yet b-"
